''Skylab VIII'' is the eighth studio album by the Brazilian musician Rogério Skylab, the eighth in his series of ten eponymous, numbered albums. It was self-released on July 29, 2008; to promote the album's release, Skylab made an exclusive performance at the Cine Lapa in Rio de Janeiro. Rogério Tolomei Teixeira (born September 2, 1956), better known by his stage name Rogério Skylab, is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, lyricist, classical guitarist, poet, essayist, record producer, actor and former television presenter. His unique musical style is characterized by minimalism and eclecticism, and his lyrics are permeated by acerbic allusions to popular culture, pessimism, scatology, nihilism and black comedy (he has, however, always denied that his songs have humorous purposes). José Gonzaga Ferreira (10 February 1924 – 25 August 2023), better known as Carlos Gonzaga, was a Brazilian singer who had national success with the 1958 version of the song " Diana". It was self-released in 1999 and produced by Robertinho do Recife (famous for his previous collaborations with Xuxa Meneghel, Hermeto Pascoal, Fagner and Geraldo Azevedo, among others), who also played the guitar and did the musical arrangements. The album is notable for containing Skylab's most famous composition, "Matador de Passarinho", among other hits which became staples of his live performances, such as "Motosserra", "Matadouro de Almas", "Funérea" and "Naquela Noite", the latter a re-recording from his previous album, .
