Skinny Boy
''Skinny Boy'' is the debut solo album by Chicago (band), Chicago's keyboard player Robert Lamm released in 1974 on Columbia Records. It has the distinction of being the first solo effort by any Chicago band member. The title track, "Skinny Boy," was also used on ''Chicago VII'' with horns added and an extended outro. The release sold poorly and failed to chart. Robert Lamm
Robert William Lamm (born October 13, 1944) is an American keyboardist, guitarist, singer and songwriter best known as a founding member of the rock band Chicago. He wrote many of the band's biggest hits, including " Questions 67 & 68", " Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?", "Beginnings", " 25 or 6 to 4", " Saturday in the Park", "Dialogue (Part I & II)" and "Harry Truman". Lamm is one of three founding members (alongside James Pankow and Lee Loughnane) still performing with the group. Biography Lamm was born on October 13, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York City. His parents had a collection of jazz records, which were an early influence on him. As a youth, he performed in the boys' and men's choir at Grace Episcopal Church in Brooklyn Heights. Caribou Ranch
Caribou Ranch was a recording studio built by producer James William Guercio in 1972 in a converted barn on ranch property in the Rocky Mountains near Nederland, Colorado, on the road that leads to the ghost town of Caribou. The studio was in operation until it was damaged in a fire in March 1985. The ranch hosted some of the most prominent acts of the 1970s and 80s and was closely associated with the band Chicago, who recorded five consecutive albums there between 1973 and 1977. History In 1971, Guercio purchased Caribou Ranch, comprising more than of ranch property in the Rocky Mountains. The next year, Joe Walsh and Bill Szymczyk were starting work on '' Barnstorm'' at Walsh's home in Colorado when a mixer blew out on the first day. Nederland (, ) is a statutory town located near Barker Meadow Reservoir in the foothills of southwest Boulder County, Colorado, United States. Chicago is an American rock music, rock band formed in Chicago, Illinois, in 1967. The group began calling themselves the Chicago Transit Authority in 1968, then shortened the name in 1969. Self-described as a "rock and roll band with Horn (instrument), horns", Chicago's songs often combine elements of classical music, jazz, R&B, and pop music. ''Chicago VII'' is the sixth studio album (seventh overall) by American rock band Chicago and was released in 1974. It is notable for being their first double album of new material since 1971's ''Chicago III'' and remains their final studio release in that format. It features session percussionist Laudir de Oliveira, who would become a full-fledged band member for the release of '' Chicago VIII'' the following year. Background While touring in support of ''Chicago VI'' in 1973, the band began getting restless and started integrating some lengthy jazz instrumentals into their sets. Terry Kath
Terry Alan Kath (January 31, 1946 – January 23, 1978) was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter, best known as a founding member of the rock band Chicago. He played guitar and sang lead vocals on many of the band's early hit singles. He has been praised by his bandmates and other musicians for his guitar skills and Ray Charles–influenced vocal style, and was said to be one of Jimi Hendrix's favorite guitarists. Growing up in a musical family, Kath took up a variety of instruments in his teens, including the drums and banjo. He played bass in a number of bands in the mid-1960s, before settling on the guitar when forming the group that became Chicago.
