Bronc riding, either bareback bronc or saddle bronc competition, is a rodeo event that involves a rodeo participant riding a bucking horse (sometimes called a ''bronc'' or ''bronco'') that attempts to throw or buck off the rider. Originally based on the necessary buck breaking skills of a working cowboy, the event is now a highly stylized competition that utilizes horses that often are specially bred for strength, agility, and bucking ability. National Finals Rodeo
The National Finals Rodeo (NFR) is the premier rodeo event by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). The NFR showcases the talents of the PRCA's top 15 money-winners in the season for each event. The NFR is held each year in the first full week of December, at the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in Paradise, Nevada, United States. The Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR) is the national championship professional rodeo in Canada, held in Red Deer, Alberta, and previously in Edmonton. The CFR takes place in early November and is the final event of the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association (CPRA) season. Zeke Thurston (born July 15, 1994) is a Canadian professional rodeo cowboy who specializes in saddle bronc riding. He is a three-time (2016, 2019, and 2022) Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) World Champion saddle bronc rider. Early life Thurston was born on July 15, 1994, in Big Valley, Alberta, Canada. Thurston attended Sheridan College. His father, Skeeter Thurston, was a six-time National Finals Rodeo (NFR) qualifier. Thurston graduated from Sheridan College. Professional career Thurston competes in the PRCA circuit. In 2016, he won the Saddle Bronc Riding World Championship at the National Finals Rodeo.
