Skallelv
Skallelv ( fkv, Kallijoki; sme, Gállojohka) is a village in Vadsø Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. It is located on the southeastern coast of the Varanger Peninsula, along the Varangerfjorden. The European route E75 highway runs through the village, about halfway between the villages of Komagvær and Krampenes. Skallelv Church is located in the village. Historically, Skallelv has been inhabited by the Sami and the Kven populations, and more recently by newcomers from the more southern parts of Norway and Finland. Skallelv Church
Skallelv Chapel ( no, Skallelv kapell) is a chapel in Vadsø Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. It is located in the village of Skallelv. It is an annex chapel for the Vadsø parish which is part of the Varanger prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland. The yellow, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1961 by the architect Rolf Harlew Jenssen. The church seats about 78 people. The chapel does not hold regular services other than during the major church holidays and special events. Varangerfjorden
The Varangerfjord ( en, Varanger Fjord; russian: Варангер-фьорд, Варяжский залив; fi, Varanginvuono; sme, Várjavuonna) is the easternmost fjord in Norway, north of Finland. The fjord is located in Troms og Finnmark county between the Varanger Peninsula and the mainland of Norway. The fjord flows through the municipalities of Vardø, Vadsø, Nesseby, and Sør-Varanger. The fjord is approximately long, emptying into the Barents Sea. In a strict sense, it is a false fjord, since it does not have the hallmarks of a fjord carved by glaciers. Kven People
Kvens (; fi, kveeni; no, kvenar, kvener; sv, kväner; se, kveanat) are a Baltic Finnic peoples, Balto-Finnic ethnic minority in Norway. They are descended from Finnish people, Finnish peasants and fishermen who emigrated from the northern parts of Finland and Sweden to Northern Norway in the 18th and 19th centuries. In 1996, Kvens were granted minority status in Norway, and in 2005 the Kven language was recognized as a minority language in Norway. Krampenes is a village in Vadsø Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. It is located on the northern shore of the Varangerfjorden on the eastern shore of the Varanger Peninsula. European Route E75
European route E 75 is part of the International E-road network, which is a series of main roads in Europe. The E 75 starts at the town of Vardø in Norway by the Barents Sea and it runs south through Finland, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia, North Macedonia, and Greece. The road ends after about (not counting ferries) at the town of Sitia on eastern end of the island of Crete in the Mediterranean Sea, it being the most southerly point reached by an E-road. (The northernmost one is E69) From the beginning of the 1990s until 2009, there was no ferry connection between Helsinki and Gdańsk. However, Finnlines started a regular service between Helsinki and Gdynia.
