Sizwe Petrus Yende (born 29 August 1977 in Daggakraal) is a South African journalist and the author of Eerie Assignment. He is ''City Press''s chief correspondent in Mpumalanga. He is an investigative journalist, covering Mpumalanga. His Eerie Assignment memoir details his journalistic journey in the province of Mpumalanga while uncovering corruption under constant intimidation in a province that has become notorious for politically motivated assassinations. 013NEWS

Daggakraal
Daggakraal, "one of South Africa's most impoverished and isolated communities with plenty of unmined mineral resources", is a town in Gert Sibande District Municipality near Volksrust in the outskirts of Mpumalanga province, South Africa. The town had about 1,450 households in 2014. There is no means of production a number of failed state projects aimed at uplifting people. Daggakraal area code 2492 has two clinics namely Sinqobile CHC in Daggakraal no 3 and Daggakraal CHC in Sinqobile A. Eerie Assignment
Eerie Assignment is a memoir written by South African journalist Sizwe Sama Yende. It was released by Lesedi House Publishers in May 2017. The book talks about Sama Yende's experience being an investigative journalist in Mpumalanga during deputy president David Mabuza's rule as Premier of Mpumalanga and ANC provincial chairperson. Sama Yende describes the atmosphere of fear in a province infamous of politically motivated assassinations, corruption, greed and the efforts by politicians to silent journalists, either through bribes or threats. Mpumalanga
Mpumalanga () is a province of South Africa. The name means "East", or literally "The Place Where the Sun Rises" in the Swazi, Xhosa, Ndebele and Zulu languages. Mpumalanga lies in eastern South Africa, bordering Eswatini and Mozambique. It constitutes 6.5% of South Africa's land area. Corruption in South Africa includes the improper use of public resources for private ends, including bribery and improper favouritism. The 2017 Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index assigned South Africa a score of 43 out of 100, ranking South Africa 71 out of 180 countries; a high score and a low ranking signals that the country's public sector is perceived to be honest. There was a marginal improvement by 2021, when South Africa received a score of 44, ranking it 70 out of 180 countries. Nonetheless, this remains below its score of 45 in 2016.
