Six Million And One
''Six Million and One'' (Hebrew: שישה מיליון ואחד) is a 2011 Israeli documentary film, a Fisher Features Ltd. release, written directed and produced by David Fisher. This is the third and final film in the family trilogy created by Fisher after '' Love Inventory'' (2000) and '' Mostar Round-Trip'' (2011). Plot summary Joseph Fischer's memoir was discovered only after his death. His children refused to confront it, except for David, the filmmaker, for whom it became a compass for a long journey. When David found it unbearable to be alone in the wake of his father's survival story and in his struggle not to lose his sanity, he convinced his brothers and sister to join him in the hope that this would also contribute to releasing tensions and bring them as close as they used to be. David Fisher (filmmaker)
David Fisher ( he, דוד פישר; born in Petah Tiqva, Israel, October 14, 1956) is an Israeli documentary film director, producer and lecturer. In 1999–2008, he was Director General of The New Fund for Cinema and Television (NFCT). Biography David Fisher was born to Joseph Fischer (born in Vișeu de Sus, Romania) and Mali (born in Vashkivtsi, Ukraine), both Holocaust survivors. His four siblings Estee, Gideon, Ronel and Amnon are featured prominently in his films Love Inventory and Six Million and One. Amnon contributed the soundtrack for his films Love Inventory, Six Million and One and Street Shadows. Fisher received his BFA degree in Cinema Studies from Tel Aviv University in 1983 and worked at the Israeli Educational Television (IETV) until 1989. Fisher is married to Lili, with whom he has three children: Yael, Daniele and Yuval. Digital Cinema Package
A Digital Cinema Package (DCP) is a collection of digital files used to store and convey digital cinema (DC) audio, image, and data streams. The term was popularized by Digital Cinema Initiatives, LLC in its original recommendation for packaging DC contents. However, the industry tends to apply the term to the structure more formally known as the composition. ("You PLAY a composition, You do NOT play a Digital Cinema Package".) A DCP is a “packing crate” for compositions, a hierarchical file structure that represents a title version. The DCP may carry a partial composition (e.g. not a complete set of files), a single complete composition, or multiple and complete compositions. The composition consists of a Composition Playlist (in XML format) that defines the playback sequence of a set of Track Files. Peter Wintonick
Peter Kenneth Wintonick (June 10, 1953 – November 18, 2013) was a Canadian independent documentary filmmaker based in Montreal. A winner of the 2006 Governor General's Award in Visual and Media Arts, former Thinker in Residence for the Premier of South Australia, prolific award-winning filmmaker, he was one of Canada's best known international documentarians. Biography Born in Trenton, Ontario in 1953, Wintonick was the son of John Wintonick and Norma Latham. He was of Ukrainian descent. He founded Necessary Illusions Productions with Mark Achbar, and subsequently ran it with Francis Miquet. Wintonick was a co-founder of DocAgora, an event inserted into various film festivals showcasing cutting-edge digital strategies. He co-directed, with his daughter, Mira Burt-Wintonick, the 2009 documentary ''PilgrIMAGE'', a film about documentary filmmaking. Wintonick died of cholangiocarcinoma on November 18, 2013, aged 60. International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam
The International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) is the world's largest documentary film festival held annually since 1988 in Amsterdam. Over a period of twelve days, it has screened more than 300 films and sold more than 250,000 tickets. Visitors to the festival have increased from 65,000 in 2000 to 285,000 in 2018. The festival is an independent, international meeting place for audiences and professionals to see a diverse (in form, content, and cultural background) program of high-quality documentaries. IDFA selects creative and accessible documentaries, which offer new insights into society.
