Six Ft Hick
SixFtHick is an Australian swamp rock band formed in Brisbane, Queensland in 1995, noted for the unpredictable antics of its two singers, brothers Geoff and Ben Corbett. Formed in 1995, the band have released four albums to date, relentlessly touring Australia and supporting artists such as The Jesus Lizard, Fugazi, The White Stripes, Beasts of Bourbon, TISM and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. On 5 November 2010, 6ft Hick: Notes From The Underground premiered as part of the Brisbane International Film Festival, the documentary centers around the band's third tour of Europe for which they performed fifteen shows in just eighteen days. The White Stripes
The White Stripes were an American rock duo from Detroit formed in 1997. The group consisted of Jack White (songwriter, vocals, guitar, piano, and mandolin) and Meg White (drums and vocals). After releasing several singles and three albums within the Detroit music scene, the White Stripes rose to prominence in 2002 as part of the garage rock revival scene. The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion was an American three-piece rock band from New York City, formed in 1991. The group consisted of Judah Bauer on guitar, backing vocals, harmonica and occasional lead vocals, Russell Simins on drums and Jon Spencer on vocals, guitar and theremin. Their musical style is largely rooted in rock and roll although it draws influences from punk, blues, garage, rockabilly, soul, noise rock, rhythm and blues and hip hop. TISM (an acronym of This Is Serious Mum) are a seven-piece anonymous alternative rock band, formed in Melbourne, Australia on 30 December 1982 by vocalist/drummer Humphrey B. Flaubert, bassist/vocalist Jock Cheese and keyboardist/vocalist Eugene de la Hot Croix Bun, with vocalist Ron Hitler-Barassi joining the group the following year. Beasts of Bourbon were an Australian blues rock band formed in August 1983, with James Baker on drums (ex-Hoodoo Gurus, The Scientists), Spencer P. Jones on guitar (The Johnnys), Tex Perkins on vocals (Dum Dums), Kim Salmon on guitar and Boris Sujdovic on bass guitar (both ex-The Scientists). Except for mainstays Jones and Perkins, the line-up changed over time as the group splintered and reformed several times. Their debut album, ''The Axeman's Jazz'' was released in July 1984.
