Sitaram Lalas
Sitaram Lalas (29 December 1912 – 29 December 1986) (known as Sita Ramji maadsaab) was a linguist and lexicographer of India. He produced a written dictionary of the Rajasthani language – first ever in the language with name: Rajasthani Shabd (Sabada) Kosh and Rajasthani Hindi Brihad Kosha. This perhaps is one of the voluminous dictionaries of the world consisting of more than words. The dictionary contains not only the meanings but the origin, synonyms, idioms and phrases based upon each word. It is named ''Rajasthani Bhasha-Sahitya evam Vyakarana'' and was first published in 1962.The volume was acclaimed as a significant academic work by national and international scholars. Marwar (also called Jodhpur region) is a region of western Rajasthan state in North Western India. It lies partly in the Thar Desert. The word 'maru' is Sanskrit for desert. In Rajasthani languages, "wad" means a particular area. English translation of the word 'marwar' is 'the region of desert.' Historically, the term 'Marwar' referred to a geographical entity spanning a cultural area across nearly all of Rajasthan. A Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) is a representative elected by the voters of an electoral district (constituency) to the legislature of State government in the Indian system of government. From each constituency, the people elect one representative who then becomes a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). Each state has between seven and nine MLAs for every Member of Parliament (MP) that it has in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India's bicameral parliament. Muni Jinvijayji
Muni Jinvijayji (27 January 1888 ― 3 June 1976) was a scholar of orientalism, archeology, indology and Jainism from India. Biography Jinvijay was born in Rupaheli, Mewad near Udaipur on 27 January 1888 to Vriddhisinh and Rajkumari. His birth name was Kishansinh Parmar. He lost his parents at early age and after his contact with Muni Devihans, he was interested in Jainism. He was initiated as Sthanakvasi Jain monk in 1903. He was later initiated in ''Samvegi'' order of Shvetambara Jain monk and was given new name, Muni Jinvijay. He learned Sanskrit and Prakrit literature under Kantivijay, a Jain ascetic from Patan, Gujarat. Being bored of conventional life of ascetic, he renounced monkhood and decided to live as a professor. Rajasthan Oriental Research Institute
Rajasthan Oriental Research Institute is an organisation established by Government of Rajasthan to promote Rajasthani culture and heritage and to accumulate and maintain the old Rajansthani folk art work and folk literature. It was established in 1954 under guidance of Muni Jinvijayaji, a member of the Royal Asiatic Society. Dr. Rajendra Prasad laid foundation stone in 1955 and it opened on 14 September 1958. Rulers Of Marwar
Kingdom of Marwar, also known as the Jodhpur State under the British, was a kingdom in the Marwar region from 1226 to 1818 and a princely state under British rule from 1818 to 1947. It was established in Pali by Rao Siha, possibly a migrant Gahadavala dynasty, Gahadavala noble, in 1243. His successors continued to struggle against regional powers for domination and 9 out of 15 rulers till 1438 died in combat. In 1395, its capital was changed to Mandore by Rao Chunda and to Jodhpur in 1459 by Jodha of Mandore, Rao Jodha. Umerkot (formerly known as Amarkot) is a city in the Sindh province of Pakistan. The local language is Dhatki, which is one of the Rajasthani languages of the Indo-Aryan language family. Jai Narayan Vyas (18 February 1899 – 14 March 1963) was an Indian politician and the third chief minister of the State of Rajasthan. He hailed from Jodhpur city and was a leader of Indian National Congress party. Early life He was born on 18 February 1899 in a Brahmin family to Pandit Sewaramji Vyas and Shrimati Gopi Devi in Jodhpur.
