Mario Sironi
Mario Sironi (May 12, 1885 – August 13, 1961) was an Italian modernist artist who was active as a painter, sculptor, illustrator, and designer. His typically somber paintings are characterized by massive, immobile forms. Biography He was born in Sassari on the island of Sardinia. His father was an engineer; his maternal grandfather was the architect and sculptor Ignazio Villa.Sironi and Ferrari 2002, p. 159 Sironi spent his childhood in Rome. He embarked on the study of engineering at the University of Rome but quit after a nervous breakdown in 1903, one of many severe depressions that would recur throughout his life. Thereafter he decided to study painting, and began attending the Scuola Libera del Nudo of the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma. There he met Giacomo Balla, who became "his first real teacher". Andrea Sironi (born 13 May 1964) is an Italian academic. He is a Professor of Banking and Finance at Bocconi University, where he has been the Rector from 2012 to 2016, and since 2022 is the President. He serves as chairman of Assicurazioni Generali. Early life Andrea Sironi was born on 13 May 1964 in Milan, Italy. He graduated from Bocconi University with a degree in economics. Career Sironi began his career in finance. In 1995, he joined the faculty at his alma mater, Bocconi University, where he subsequently became a Professor of Banking and Finance. He was a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve in Washington, D.C. in 2000. Sironi served as its Rector from 2012 to 2016, when he was succeeded by Gianmario Verona. In this capacity, he encouraged faculty to publish research in English as opposed to Italian, and he promoted social mobility by waiving tuition for underprivileged students. Maria Bianca Cita Sironi
Maria Bianca Cita (born 12 September 1924) is an Italian geologist and paleontologist. She was born in Milan and graduated in geology from the University of Milan in 1946. She lectured there on micropaleontology, physical geography, engineering geology, geology and stratigraphy. In 1973, she became a full professor, teaching in turn micropaleontology, geology and marine geology. From 1982 to 1988, she was head of the earth sciences department at the University of Milan. In 1992, she was president of the European Science Foundation scientific committee for the Ocean Drilling Program. She was president of the Italian geological society (Società geologica italiana) from 1989 to 1990, the first woman to hold that office.
