Sir Marcus Lowther-Crofton, 1st Baronet
Sir Marcus Lowther-Crofton, 1st Baronet (died 17 January 1784) was an Anglo-Irish politician. He was born Marcus Lowther, the son of Gorges Lowther MP, of Kilrue, County Meath, and Jane Beresford, daughter of Sir Tristram Beresford, 3rd Baronet and Nichola Sophia Hamilton. On 9 September 1743 he married Catherine Crofton, daughter of Sir Edward Crofton, 3rd Baronet and Mary Nixon, and in 1745 he legally changed his surname to Lowther-Crofton. They had seven children. Lowther-Crofton, like his father and his brother Gorges Lowther (1713-1792), represented Ratoath in the Irish House of Commons between 1753 and 1760. On 12 June 1758 he was created a baronet in the Baronetage of Ireland. He represented Roscommon from 1761 to 1768, before sitting again for Ratoath between 1769 and 1776.E. M. Anglo-Irish people () denotes an ethnic, social and religious grouping who are mostly the descendants and successors of the English Protestant Ascendancy in Ireland. They mostly belong to the Anglican Church of Ireland, which was the established church of Ireland until 1871, or to a lesser extent one of the English dissenting churches, such as the Methodist church, though some were Roman Catholics. They often defined themselves as simply "British", and less frequently "Anglo-Irish", "Irish" or "English". Gorges Lowther (1713–1792)
Gorges Lowther (5 November 1713 – 21 February 1792) was an Irish Member of Parliament. He was the son of George Lowther of Kilrue, County Meath, by his wife Jane, daughter of Sir Tristram Beresford, 3rd Baronet and Nichola Sophia Hamilton. Baron Crofton
Baron Crofton is a title in the Peerage of Ireland. It was created in 1797 (as Baroness Crofton) for Dame Anne Crofton. She was the widow of Sir Edward Crofton, 2nd Baronet, of the Mote, who had represented Roscommon in the Irish House of Commons and had been offered a peerage just before his death. The peerage was instead bestowed upon his widow. She was succeeded by her grandson, the second Baron, who had already succeeded as fourth Baronet. He sat in the House of Lords as an Irish Representative Peer from 1840 to 1869 and served as a Lord-in-waiting (government whip in the House of Lords) in the three Conservative administrations of the Earl of Derby and in Benjamin Disraeli's first government. His son, the third Baron, served as an Irish Representative Peer between 1873 and 1912 and was also State Steward to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. Sir John Coghill, 1st Baronet (14 July 1732 – 8 March 1790), known before 1775 as John Cramer, was an Anglo-Irish politician. Biography Born John Cramer, he was the son of Balthazar John Cramer and Hon. Judith Butler, daughter of Brinsley Butler, 1st Viscount Lanesborough. He was the grandson of Oliver Cramer and his wife Hester, sister of Marmaduke Coghill, Chancellor of the Exchequer of Ireland. In 1775 he succeeded to the Coghill estates on the death of his cousin, Hester, daughter and heiress of James Coghill and widow of Charles Moore, 1st Earl of Charleville. Nathaniel Clements
Nathaniel Clements (1705 – May 1777) was an Irish politician and financial figure, important in the political and financial administration of Ireland in the mid-18th century. Early history Clements was the fifth son of Robert Clements (1664–1722). He married Hannah Gore, daughter of William Gore, D.D., Dean of Down, on 31 January 1730. Career Clements became Member of Parliament (MP) for Duleek in 1727 under the patronage of Luke Gardiner, a powerful political and business figure in Dublin. He commenced as a junior at the Irish Treasury in 1720 and held extensive offices there. He became the main financial manager of the British and Irish Government in Ireland during the period, and was ''de facto'' Minister for Finance from 1740 to 1777. Edward Sandford (politician)
Edward Albert Sandford (22 October 1910 – 13 May 1995) was an English footballer who played as an inside forward. During his professional career from 1930 to 1943 he represented West Bromwich Albion, Sheffield United, Morris Commercial and the England national football team. Career Sandford was born in Handsworth, Birmingham. As a youth he played football for Tantany Athletic, Overend Wesley, Birmingham Carriage Works F.C. and Smethwick Highfield. In October 1929, while still an amateur, he joined West Bromwich Albion, the club that his uncle Abe Jones had represented between 1896 and 1901. Sandford turned professional in May 1930 and scored on his senior debut in November of the same year when Albion beat Preston North End 3–2 in a Division Two match.
