Sir Lord Baltimore (album)
''Sir Lord Baltimore'' is the second studio album by American rock band Sir Lord Baltimore, released by Mercury Records in 1971. It was reissued on PolyGram in 1994, and on Red Fox in 2003. The 1994 and 2003 re-releases also contained 1970's '' Kingdom Come'', and were titled '' Kingdom Come/Sir Lord Baltimore''. This album marked a change in direction, with the frenetic pace of the first album giving way to a slower tempo. Sir Lord Baltimore expanded to a quartet for this album, with Louis Dambra's brother, Joey Dambra, joining as a second guitarist. ''Sir Lord Baltimore'' contained a supposed live recording, "Where Are We Going", later confirmed by leader John Garner to have been recorded at Mercury Studios, with the audience dubbed in at the producer's request. The chorus guitar riff to "Woman Tamer" was used by stoner rock band Monster Magnet on the title track of their 1995 album ''Dopes to Infinity''. Sir Lord Baltimore
Sir Lord Baltimore was an American heavy metal band from Brooklyn, New York City, formed in 1968 by lead vocalist and drummer John Garner, guitarist Louis Dambra, and bassist Gary Justin. Some have cited the 1971 review of their debut record, '' Kingdom Come'', in ''Creem'' magazine as containing the first documented use of the term "heavy metal" to refer to a style of music. Sir Lord Baltimore featured a drumming lead singer, traditionally a rarity in rock and metal music. The band is also the first band to be categorized as heavy metal. The group has been called "the godfathers of stoner rock." In 2006, Garner and Dambra reunited as Sir Lord Baltimore and released a new album, '' Sir Lord Baltimore III Raw''. Monster Magnet
Monster Magnet is an American rock band. Hailing from Red Bank, New Jersey, the group was founded in 1989 by Dave Wyndorf (vocals and guitar), John McBain (guitar) and Tim Cronin (vocals and drums); they have since gone through several lineup changes, leaving Wyndorf as the only constant member. Monster Magnet has released ten studio albums to date, and they are best known for their 1990s hits "Negasonic Teenage Warhead" and "Space Lord". The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. An electric guitar is a guitar that requires external amplification in order to be heard at typical performance volumes, unlike a standard acoustic guitar (however combinations of the two - a semi-acoustic guitar and an electric acoustic guitar exist). ''Dopes to Infinity'' is the third album by American rock band Monster Magnet. It was released on March 21, 1995. Overview The song "Negasonic Teenage Warhead" became the band's first hit single, after having appeared the previous year in different form in the American movie '' S.F.W.''. Other tracks, such as the title track and "Dead Christmas" however, received little or no airplay, resulting in sales of the album being only slightly better than their previous album, ''Superjudge''. The album did reach #51 on the UK Charts and #30 in the German Charts. A music video was made for the song "Negasonic Teenage Warhead," directed by Gore Verbinski. Stoner rock, also known as stoner metal or stoner doom, is a rock music fusion genre that combines elements of doom metal with psychedelic rock and acid rock. The genre emerged during the early 1990s and was pioneered foremost by Kyuss and Sleep. Characteristics Stoner rock is typically slow-to-mid tempo and features a heavily distorted, groove-laden bass-heavy sound, melodic vocals, and "retro" production. PolyGram
PolyGram N.V. was a multinational entertainment company and major music record label formerly based in the Netherlands.
