Sir Ellis Kadoorie (S) Primary School () is a government-operated public primary school in So Kon Po, Wan Chai District, Hong Kong. History Sir Ellis Kadoorie built the school to educate residents of South Asian origin. Kadoorie opened a school in 1891, in Sai Ying Poon. On 16 October 1916 the Ellis Kadoorie School for Indians was created by the Governor of Hong Kong. Its purpose was to educate children of South Asian descent. The school was initially a primary school only, and only for male children. The original building had two stories. Kadoorie School closed in World War II. It resumed operations on 11 February 1946; the majority of students were ethnic Chinese with relatively few of South Asian descent. Kadoorie School previously had separate shifts in the morning and afternoon. The ethnic Chinese attended afternoon shifts (P. M. School) while ethnic South Asians attended morning shifts (A. M. Sir Ellis Kadoorie Secondary School (West Kowloon) (SEKSS(WK)) is a secondary school in Tai Kok Tsui, Yau Tsim Mong District, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It was established on 16 October 1916 as The Ellis Kadoorie School for Indians by the Governor of Hong Kong. Its purpose was to educate children of South Asian descent. The school states that its heritage originates from the Kadoorie School set up in Sai Ying Poon in the 1890s. The initial institution was primary only but secondary levels were added in the 1960s. Form 4 came in 1977, and Form 5 came in 1978. In 1980 the Kadoorie School was divided into separate schools for primary and secondary levels. So Kon Po
So Kon Po or Sookunpo () is an area of Hong Kong Island located south of Causeway Bay and Victoria Park in Hong Kong. It neighbours Caroline Hill and Jardine's Lookout. It contains the Hong Kong Stadium, Olympic House, and the Tung Wah Eastern Hospital. So Kon Po was the burial grounds for the victims of the Happy Valley Racecourse fire in 1918. The remains were moved to Aberdeen in 1953, when the stadium was built on its grounds. Sai Ying Pun is an area in Western District, on Hong Kong Island, in Hong Kong. It is administratively part of the Central and Western District. Etymology In Cantonese, ''Sai'' () means "west" and ''Ying Pun'' () means "camp", especially a military camp. It was where the early British military stayed. Location Sai Ying Pun is built on the steeply sloping lower slopes of Victoria Peak and also on the western reclamation. The areas of Shek Tong Tsui and Kennedy Town are located to the west, Sheung Wan and Tai Ping Shan are to the east, and the Mid-Levels is higher up the hill to the south.
