Sir Duncan Campbell, 3rd Baronet
Sir Duncan Alexander Dundas Campbell, 3rd Baronet (4 December 1856 – 27 May 1926) was a Scottish British Army officer, historian and officer of arms. Campbell was the son of Sir Alexander Campbell, 2nd Baronet and Harriette Augusta Royer Collier, and he succeeded to his father's title on 11 December 1880. He served as an officer in the Black Watch. Between 1884 and 1895 he was Gentleman Usher of the Green Rod. Campbell retired from the army in 1893, with the rank of Honorary Major, late of the 3rd and 4th Battalion Highland Light Infantry. From 1907 until his death in 1926, he was Carrick Pursuivant of the Court of the Lord Lyon and was a member of the Royal Company of Archers. There have been 18 baronetcies created for persons with the surname Campbell, six in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia and twelve in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. Campbell baronets, of Glenorchy (1625) The Campbell baronetcy, of Glenorchy in the County of Perth, was created in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia on 29 May 1625 for Duncan Campbell. Thomas Innes Of Learney
Sir Thomas Innes of Learney (1893–1971) was a Scottish officer of arms who was Lord Lyon from 1945 to 1969. He was Carrick Pursuivant and Albany Herald in the 1920s and 1930s. He was a very active Lord Lyon, strongly promoting his views of what his office was through his writings and pronouncements in his Court. In 1950, he convinced the Scots Law Times to start publishing the decisions made in Lyon Court. By ruling on uncontested petitions, he was able to expound many of his theories in court but not under review of his superior court, and get them published in the judicial record. His treatise, ''Scots Heraldry'', was first published in 1934 when he was Carrick Pursuivant; then a second, enlarged edition came out in 1956, and it has practically eclipsed earlier works on the subject.
