Sioux Falls Roller Dollz
Sioux Falls Roller Dollz (SFRD) is a women's flat track roller derby league based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Founded in 2006, the league currently consists of two teams, and two mixed teams which compete against teams from other leagues. Sioux Falls is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). History The league was founded by Elizabeth "Queen Elizabitch" Nelson and Jayme "PainMaker" Nelson (no relation) in October 2006, after they watched ''Rollergirls'' on television and saw a live bout between the Mad Rollin' Dolls and the Minnesota RollerGirls. They were immediately able to recruit a group of around twenty skaters. They constituted the first league in South Dakota; when a second league, the Rushmore Rollerz, was set up, the Dollz acted as mentors to it. North Central Region (WFTDA)
The Women's Flat Track Derby Association's North Central Region was formed in 2008 when WFTDA changed from having just two regional tournaments (East and West), to five, made up of teams from four regions: East, North Central, South Central and West. Members in the central part of the Canada Region competed in the North Central Region. For 2011, the region was reduced in size, with teams in Nebraska moving to the South Central Region. WFTDA has now moved away from the Big 5 WFTDA Championships qualification tournament structure, last competed in 2012. Starting with the 2013 WFTDA season, the regions were discontinued in favour of an overall-rankings based system, and a new playoff format was created. WFTDA Championships
The International Women's Flat Track Derby Association Championships ("WFTDA Championships" or "Champs" for short) are the leading competition for roller derby leagues. The Championships are organised by the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). They originated in 2006 as the National WFTDA Championship. The "Dust Devil" tournament was contested in front of several thousand fans in Tucson, Arizona. Women's Flat Track Derby Association Rankings
Rankings for the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) are used to determine placement in overall standings (rather than win–loss record) and also to determine seedings at WFTDA Playoffs. Achieving high rankings is also a goal for teams aiming to increase their stature in the organization. Each year at the end of June, teams are seeded into Division 1 and Division 2 playoff tournaments. Historically, the top 40 teams in the WFTDA as of June 30 were eligible for Division 1 tournaments that season, and the teams ranked 41–60 were eligible for Division 2 tournaments. For 2017, the Division 1 cutoff was reduced to the top 36 teams, with the next 16 teams qualifying for Division 2 Playoffs. Lincolnshire Bombers Roller Derby is a flat track roller derby league, based in Lincoln, England. Lincolnshire is a member of the United Kingdom Roller Derby Association (UKRDA) and the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). League History Established in 2008 as the Lincolnshire Bombers Roller Girls, the league was named in homage to Lincolnshire's RAF history. It started out with five members, including long-term director and founder Emma Tremlett (derby name She'za Payne).
