Lincolnshire Bombers Roller Derby is a flat track roller derby league, based in Lincoln, England. Lincolnshire is a member of the United Kingdom Roller Derby Association (UKRDA) and the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). League History Established in 2008 as the Lincolnshire Bombers Roller Girls, the league was named in homage to Lincolnshire's RAF history. It started out with five members, including long-term director and founder Emma Tremlett (derby name She'za Payne). Later that year, the league had grown to 25 members, enabling them to start their first roller derby season in 2009. The Bombers were one of the founding members of the United Kingdom Roller Derby Association (UKRDA). WFTDA Championships
The International Women's Flat Track Derby Association Championships ("WFTDA Championships" or "Champs" for short) are the leading competition for roller derby leagues. The Championships are organised by the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). They originated in 2006 as the National WFTDA Championship. The "Dust Devil" tournament was contested in front of several thousand fans in Tucson, Arizona. Women's Flat Track Derby Association Rankings
Rankings for the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) are used to determine placement in overall standings (rather than win–loss record) and also to determine seedings at WFTDA Playoffs. Achieving high rankings is also a goal for teams aiming to increase their stature in the organization. Each year at the end of June, teams are seeded into Division 1 and Division 2 playoff tournaments. Historically, the top 40 teams in the WFTDA as of June 30 were eligible for Division 1 tournaments that season, and the teams ranked 41–60 were eligible for Division 2 tournaments. For 2017, the Division 1 cutoff was reduced to the top 36 teams, with the next 16 teams qualifying for Division 2 Playoffs. Sioux Falls Roller Dollz (SFRD) is a women's flat track roller derby league based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Founded in 2006, the league currently consists of two teams, and two mixed teams which compete against teams from other leagues. Sioux Falls is a member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). WFTDA Apprentice Program
The Women's Flat Track Derby Association Apprentice is the program affiliate of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). In operation from 2009 until early 2019, the Apprentice Program served to onboard new member leagues into the WFTDA. In February 2019, the WFTDA announced it was retiring the program, to be replaced with a new "New Member Program" in the near future. History In July 2009, the WFTDA announced its new apprentice program for aspiring member leagues that replaced its traditional membership application process. The program is designed to act as a "WFTDA 101" tutorial, and will match new leagues with an established WFTDA mentor, who will guide the apprentice through the processes and requirements necessary to becoming a full member. Liverpool Roller Birds (LRB) are a flat-track roller derby team based in Liverpool, Merseyside. They joined the United Kingdom Roller Derby Association (UKRDA) in 2015, and became a member of the WFTDA Apprentice Program in December 2018. Manchester Roller Derby (MRD) is a flat track roller derby league based in Manchester, England. Founded in 2010, as the first co-ed league in the UK, they became members of the Men's Roller Derby Association in December 2012 and of United Kingdom Roller Derby Association in November 2013.
