Singapore International Festival of Arts (SIFA) is an annual arts festival held in Singapore. It is organised bArts House Limitedfor the National Arts Council. The festival is usually held in mid-year for a stretch of one month and incorporates theatre arts, dance, music and visual arts, etc. Besides local participants, many of the events are by international artists. It began as Singapore Arts Festival, (Chinese: 新加坡艺术节) organised by the National Arts Council, in 1977, and was a biennial event until 1999. Since 2012 it has been called Singapore International Festival of Arts, run by Arts Festival Limited, and commissioned by the National Arts Council. The Festival Director is currently Natalie Hennedige. Singapore Arts Street
Singapore Arts Street is an annual arts event held in Singapore since 2006, usually during mid of the year. It is akin to an Australian arts market, being free for visitors and involving a large number of participating artists of varying fame, skill and disciplines (including graffiti spray painting). Participating artists also collaborate on the creation of large artworks at the event venue. It is the first event of this scale in Singapore. The National Arts Council (NAC) is a statutory board established on 15 October 1991 to oversee the development of arts in Singapore. It is under the purview of the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth. Esplanade Park
Esplanade Park is a park located at the Esplanade area within the Downtown Core district of Singapore. History Built in 1943 when Singapore was ruled by Japan, the Esplanade Park is one of the oldest parks in Singapore. The park was redeveloped in 1991. Many historical landmarks are located at the Esplanade Park, including Queen Elizabeth Walk, the former Indian National Army Monument site, The Cenotaph (completed in 1922), Tan Kim Seng Fountain (moved here in 1925 from Fullerton Square), and the Lim Bo Seng Memorial (which was unveiled in 1954). Ishinha
Ishinha (維新派) is an Osaka-based Japanese theatre company. Its name means ''revolutionaries'' or ''reformers'', from ''ishin'' (revolution, 維新) and ''ha'' (school or group, 派). History The company was founded in 1970 by Yukichi Matsumoto. Over the years it has grown to be a very ambitious troupe employing over thirty performers and many other staff members. Bedok Reservoir
Bedok Reservoir ( ms, Empangan Bedok, , ta, பெடோக் நீர்த்தேக்கம்) is a reservoir (water), reservoir in the eastern part of Singapore, to the north of Bedok. The reservoir has a surface area of 880,000 m², and a capacity of 12.8 million m³. The mean depth of the reservoir is 9 m, with a maximum depth of 18.2 m. The shoreline length is 4.3 km. History The reservoir was first announced in 1980 as part of a water supply scheme. It was converted from a sand quarry that was used by the Housing and Development Board (HDB).
