Singapore Cricket Club
The Singapore Cricket Club (SCC) is one of the premier sports and social clubs in Singapore. Its clubhouse is located on Connaught Drive on the south end of the Padang in Singapore's central business district. History The SCC was established in 1837. Over the years, the club has had three clubhouse buildings on the Padang. The first was erected in the 1860s and the second in 1877. The third, which forms the core of the present-day clubhouse, was built in 1884. As the second oldest club in Singapore, the SCC today has over 3,000 members. Cricket, rugby, football and field hockey are played on the Padang, and the club also has facilities for squash, tennis, lawn bowls, billiards and snooker. The club has played host to many international cricket events over the years. Amos Boon
Amos Leonard Boon Hock Chye (born 12 July 1972) is a former goalkeeper who last played for Woodlands Wellington in the 2011 S-League season. He was retired professionally at the end of the season. Boon is a former Singapore youth international and Combined Schools player. He has also represented Singapore in the Tiger 5 Futsal tournament playing against the likes of Brazil. Football career Boon started his S.League career with Tanjong Pagar United in 1996, which he stayed for three years. He then moved to Marine Castle United for five years. Tennis is a racket sport that is played either individually against a single opponent ( singles) or between two teams of two players each ( doubles). The Singapore Cricket Club International Rugby Sevens is an annual rugby sevens tournament hosted by the Singapore Cricket Club (SCC). The event is one of the premier international club tournaments in Asia, involving teams from around the world. The trophy for the tournament, the Ablitt Cup, is named after Mr Bernard E Ablitt who was Convenor of the SCC Rugby Section from 1931-2 and President of the club from 1938-9. The silver Ablitt Cup was donated by Mrs Katherine Parentis in 1947 for the winners of the first seven-a-side tournament organised by the SCC Rugby Section.
