Sims Creek
Sims Creek is a U.S. Geological Survey. National Hydrography Dataset high-resolution flowline dataThe National Map accessed June 20, 2011 tributary of the Tangipahoa River in the 8th Ward of Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana. It flows generally southeast from near Robert, and is joined about halfway down its course by its longest tributary, P-Kaw-Shun Creek, which begins north of Lorraine and flows southwest, passing under US 190 and Interstate 12, to its confluence with Sims Creek. The main creek then continues southwest, passing under LA 445, and meets the Tangipahoa River south of Robert. The creek is part of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin and thus sensitive to its ecology. Tangipahoa Parish (; French: ''Paroisse de Tangipahoa'') is a parish located in the southeast corner of the U.S. state of Louisiana. As of the 2010 census, the population was 121,097. The parish seat is Amite City, while the largest city is Hammond. Southeastern Louisiana University is located in Hammond. Lake Pontchartrain borders the southeast side of the parish. The name ''Tangipahoa'' comes from an Acolapissa word meaning "ear of corn" or "those who gather corn." The parish was organized in 1869 during Reconstruction. Robert is an unincorporated community in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, United States. It lies east of Hammond, at the intersection of US 190 and LA 445, from which it has a signed exit on Interstate 12. Robert is the largest settlement in Tangipahoa Parish's rural 8th ward. Interstate 12 (I-12) is an Interstate Highway located entirely within the U.S. state of Louisiana. It spans a total of in an east–west direction from I-10 in Baton Rouge to an interchange with both I-10 and I-59 in Slidell. LA 445
Louisiana Highway 445 (LA 445) is a state highway in Louisiana that serves Tangipahoa Parish. It spans in a south to north direction. Near its north end, it is known as Husser Road. Route description From the south, LA 445 begins near Lee's Landing. It heads north, intersects LA 22 and turns eastward to follow it for about a half-mile before turning back north. The highway heads toward the community of Robert, crossing Sims Creek and then intersecting (overpassing) I-12 at a folded-diamond interchange (Exit 47). At Robert, LA 445 and US 190 cross at a traffic signal. Lake Pontchartrain
Lake Pontchartrain ( ) is an estuary located in southeastern Louisiana in the United States. It covers an area of with an average depth of . Some shipping channels are kept deeper through dredging. It is roughly oval in shape, about from west to east and from south to north. In descending order of area, the lake is located in parts of six Louisiana parishes: St. Tammany, Orleans, Jefferson, St. John the Baptist, St. Charles, and Tangipahoa.
