''Silver'' is a graphic novel series by American writer and artist Stephan Franck. The first book in the series was nominated for the 2014 Russ Manning Award. The four books in the series were released from 2014 to 2018. Books Plot The plot of ''Silver'' follows the adventures of Pulp era con men who team up with Professor Van Helsing's granddaughter to steal an ancient treasure hidden away in Dracula's castle. Graphic Novel
A graphic novel is a long-form, fictional work of sequential art. The term ''graphic novel'' is often applied broadly, including fiction, non-fiction, and anthologized work, though this practice is highly contested by comic scholars and industry professionals. It is, at least in the United States, typically distinct from the term ''comic book'', which is generally used for comics periodicals and trade paperbacks (see American comic book). Fan historian Richard Kyle coined the term ''graphic novel'' in an essay in the November 1964 issue of the comics fanzine ''Capa-Alpha''. Stephan Franck
Stephan Franck is a Franco-American animator, writer, director, and comics creator. In 2013, he received an Annie Award nomination for Best Director for a direct to video or TV broadcast for '' The Smurfs: The Legend of Smurfy Hollow''. In 2014, Franck was nominated for the Russ Manning Award for the first volume of ''Silver'' that he writes and illustrates. Dracula
''Dracula'' is a novel by Bram Stoker, published in 1897. As an epistolary novel, the narrative is related through letters, diary entries, and newspaper articles. It has no single protagonist, but opens with solicitor Jonathan Harker taking a business trip to stay at the castle of a Transylvanian nobleman, Count Dracula. Harker escapes the castle after discovering that Dracula is a vampire, and the Count moves to England and plagues the seaside town of Whitby. A small group, led by Abraham Van Helsing, hunt Dracula and, in the end, kill him. ''Dracula'' was mostly written in the 1890s. Stoker produced over a hundred pages of notes for the novel, drawing extensively from Transylvanian folklore and history. Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) is an annual promotional effort by the North American comic book industry to attract new readers to independent comic book stores. It usually takes place on the first Saturday of May and is often cross-promoted with the release of a superhero film. Over two thousand participating stores give away millions of comic books annually. The event was proposed by Joe Field in the August 2001 issue of '' Comics & Games Retailer'' magazine and Free Comic Book Day was launched in 2002, coordinated by the industry's single large distributor, Diamond Comic Distributors.
