Silicon Knights
Silicon Knights was a Canadian video game developer. Founded in 1992 by Denis Dyack, the company was headquartered in St. Catharines, Ontario. They started developing for computers such as the Atari ST and IBM PC compatibles. After 1996, they moved to console titles. Dyack left Silicon Knights to form a new game studio, Precursor Games, after the loss of a court case against Epic Games over the game engine Unreal Engine 3. Epic Games won the case and a counter-suit for $4.45 million on grounds of copyright infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets, and breach of contract. Epic Games, Inc. is an American video game and software developer and publisher based in Cary, North Carolina. The company was founded by Tim Sweeney as Potomac Computer Systems in 1991, originally located in his parents' house in Potomac, Maryland. ''Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes'' is a 2004 stealth game co-developed by Konami Computer Entertainment Japan and Silicon Knights and published by Konami for the GameCube. The game uses the '' Dungeons & Dragons'' license, and is set in the fictional world of Mystara. Gameplay The player is first tasked with creating a character along iconic ''Dungeons & Dragons'' roles. This persona serves as the leader of the army during battles, but does not fight. Amiga is a family of personal computers introduced by Commodore in 1985. ''Cyber Empires'' (known as ''Steel Empire'' in Europe) is a strategy/top-view fighting game produced by Silicon Knights. The game was produced in MS-DOS, Atari ST and Amiga versions, and was originally released in March 1992. The current copyright holder was Strategic Simulations, Inc., which later became part of Ubisoft. Gameplay The game has two basic components. The first requires the player to engage in ''Risk''-like strategic decision-making with the goal of conquering the given land mass. The player raises cyborg armies to accomplish this goal.
