"Silhouettes" is a song written by the Scotland, Scottish experimental rock group Marmaduke Duke. It is included on their second album, ''Duke Pandemonium'', and was released as a single on 6 July 2009. The single release of Silhouettes was a remix version by Jacknife Lee. This version was first played by Zane Lowe on BBC Radio One in May 2009 with a preview being added to the bands Myspace page soon after. A music video has been released which was set to continue the story of the Duke as shown in videos for previous singles 'Kid Gloves' and 'Rubber Lover'. Marmaduke Duke
Marmaduke Duke are a Scottish conceptual rock duo from Ayrshire, Scotland, comprising Simon Neil of Biffy Clyro and JP Reid of Sucioperro. Within the band, the pair perform under the pseudonyms The Atmosphere and The Dragon respectively. According to Neil, the band, and its albums, are "based on a trilogy of unreleased manuscripts that a friend of ours brought to this country a few years ago. We're really just working to soundtrack those stories." To date, the band have released two studio albums, with their second, ''Duke Pandemonium'', achieving commercial success in the United Kingdom. Band member JP Reid describes the album as "superfunky, supertight, superunique." According to Simon Neil, the album is "a lot more cohesive" than its predecessor '' The Magnificent Duke''. "Rubber Lover" is a song written by the Scottish experimental rock group Marmaduke Duke. It is included on their second album 'Duke Pandemonium and was released as a single on 17 April 2009. It charted at a peak position of #12 in the UK singles charts following considerable airplay on radio stations such as BBC Radio 1. The band have described the song as a "dirty pop-ode to a rubber doll". The song features a sample from Billy Joel's song " Sleeping with the Television On". Music video The video is set after the "Kid Gloves" video, in a room with many girls dancing in bikinis. The Duke is playing blackjack against a pig creature, with the Crow who emerged in the previous video watching while sitting next to the Duke. Jacknife Lee
Garret "Jacknife" Lee is an Irish music producer and mixer. He has worked with a variety of artists, including the Cars, U2, R.E.M., the Killers, Robbie Williams, Snow Patrol, Bloc Party, Two Door Cinema Club, AFI, the Hives, Weezer, One Direction, Silversun Pickups, Editors, Modest Mouse, Lonnie Holley and Taylor Swift. Alexander Zane Reed Lowe (born 1973) is a New Zealand radio DJ, live DJ, record producer, and television presenter. After an early career in music creation, production and DJing, he moved to the UK in 1997. Evolution of the Hindu–Arabic digit Circa 300 BC, as part of the Brahmi numerals, various Indians wrote a digit 9 similar in shape to the modern closing question mark without the bottom dot. The Kshatrapa, Andhra and Gupta started curving the bottom vertical line coming up with a -look-alike. How the numbers got to their Gupta form is open to considerable debate. The Nagari continued the bottom stroke to make a circle and enclose the 3-look-alike, in much the same way that the sign @ encircles a lowercase ''a''. ''Marmaduke'' is a newspaper comic strip revolving around the Winslow family and their Great Dane, Marmaduke, drawn by Brad Anderson from November 15, 1954 to 2015. Publication history The strip was created by writer Phil Leeming and artist Brad Anderson, and sold to the John F. Dille Co. (later known as the National Newspaper Syndicate) in 1954. Anderson said he drew on Laurel and Hardy routines for his ideas. Anderson illustrated the strip, writing it with help from Phil Leeming (1955–1962) and later Dorothy Leeming (1963–1969), and, after August 2, 2004, Anderson's son Paul. The strip on Sundays also has a side feature called "Dog Gone Funny", in which one or more panels are devoted to dog anecdotes submitted by the fans.
