Sila Vaifale
Sila Vaifale (born 5 July 1967) is a former Samoan rugby union player. He made his international debut for against in Bucharest on 14 October 1989. Vaifale made his last appearance for Samoa against in Apia on 5 July 1997. He scored the second try that helped Samoa defeat at the 1991 Rugby World Cup, 16–13. Vaifale was also a member of the 1995 Rugby World Cup. Lepea
Lepea is a village on the island of Upolu in Samoa. The picturesque settlement of round Samoan houses built in a concentric pattern in large open grounds (''malae'') is situated 5mins drive west of the capital Apia on the north central coast of the island. It is part of the Tuamasaga electoral district. The village population is 606. A significant and high-ranking '' matai'' chief title from this village is Faumuina and the traditional residence for the title is in Lepea. The family title has been held by important national leaders in the country's history, including the first Prime Minister of Samoa, Fiame Mata'afa Faumuina Mulinu'u II (1921 - 1975) who lived in the village and whose state funeral was also held here. His father, also a paramount chief and a previous holder of the title was Mata'afa Faumuina Fiame Mulinu'u I, a leader of the country's pro-independence Mau movement. 1993 Rugby World Cup Sevens
The 1993 Rugby World Cup Sevens was held at Murrayfield in Edinburgh, Scotland, in April 1993. This tournament was the inaugural Rugby World Cup Sevens tournament. The International Rugby Board invited the established rugby union nations but also were keen to involve emerging nations in the event, recognising the fact that Sevens was providing the bridge between the developed rugby nations and those whose rugby union traditions were less well established. The IRB situated the tournament in the spiritual home nation of rugby sevens, Scotland. The games were played at the home of Scottish rugby, Murrayfield Stadium. 1997 Rugby World Cup Sevens
The 1997 Rugby World Cup Sevens was the second edition of the Rugby World Cup Sevens tournament and the first to be held in Hong Kong. It was the last major sporting event to be held in the then British dependency before the transfer of sovereignty to China which took place just three months later. Fiji defeated South Africa 24–21 to take the title for the first time. The final is considered to be one of the best sevens matches of all time. Samoa National Rugby Sevens Team
The Samoa national rugby sevens team, referred to as Samoa Sevens or Manu Samoa 7s, competes in the annual World Rugby Sevens Series. Representing the polynesian country of Samoa, with a population of about 202,000, the team competes against some of the wealthiest countries in the world. The Samoa sevens team is overseen by the Samoa Rugby Football Union, which oversees all of rugby union in Samoa. Samoa won the 2009–10 World Series by winning four tournaments – the Hong Kong Sevens, the USA Sevens, the Adelaide Sevens, and the Edinburgh Sevens. Samoa has played at all Rugby World Cup Sevens finals tournaments since the championship began in 1993; its best finish was third place in 1997 and again in 2007.
