Sikkim United Front Party
Sikkim United Front Party (SUFP) is a regional political party in the Indian state of Sikkim. Founder and Incumbent President is Narendra Adhikari. History On 25 June 2018, Narendra Adhikari established the new political party, Sikkim United Front Party (SUFP) at Ranipool, east Sikkim. In this launching ceremony, Delay Namgyal Barfungpa who is the president of Sikkim National People’s Party (SNPP) also presented. In March 2019, SUFP participated in the electoral alliance, Sikkim Progressive Alliance (SPA) which was formed by Sikkim Sangram Parishad (SSP), Sikkim Rajya Manch Party (SRMP) and SNPP. SPA sent 8 candidates for Sikkim Legislative Assembly election, 1 candidate for Sikkim Lok Sabah election. As the SPA candidates, SUFP sent 1 candidate to Sikkim Legislative Assembly election, and nominated Narendra Adhikari to the candidate for Lok Sabha. Sikkim Sangram Parishad
Sikkim Sangram Parishad is a regional political party in the Indian state of Sikkim. In 1979, after a period of instability, a ministry headed by Nar Bahadur Bhandari from Sikkim Janata Parishad party gained power in Sikkim. In 1984, Bhandari dissolved Sikkim Janata Parishad and formed a new party called Sikkim Sangram Parishad. Sikkim Sangram Parishad held on to power in the 1984 and 1989 elections, but after that lost to Sikkim Democratic Front, which has swept the elections since 1999. Sikkim Sangram Parishad did not win any seats in the state assembly in the 2004 elections. Nar Bahadur Bhandari has merged Sikkim Sangram Parishad with the Indian National Congress and he became the president of the Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee (SPCC). 2019 Indian General Election
General elections were held in India in seven phases from 11 April to 19 May 2019 to elect the members of the 17th Lok Sabha. Votes were counted and the result was declared on 23 May. Around 912 million people were eligible to vote, and voter turnout was over 67 percent – the highest ever, as well as the highest ever participation by women voters. The Bharatiya Janata Party received 37.36% of the vote, the highest vote share by a political party since the 1989 general election, and won 303 seats, further increasing its substantial majority. In addition, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won 353 seats. The Indian National Congress won 52 seats, failing to get 10% of the seats needed to claim the post of Leader of Opposition; Congress led United Progressive Alliance won 91 seats. Sikkim Lok Sabha constituency is a Lok Sabha (lower house of the Indian parliament) constituency which covers the entire area of the state of Sikkim. Sikkim participated in its first general elections in 1977 after joining the Union in 1975. Its first member of parliament (MP) was Chatra Bahadur Chhetri of the Indian National Congress who was elected unopposed. The current MP is Indra Hang Subba, who has represented the constituency since 2019. His term is expected to end in May 2024. Sikkim Rajya Manch Party (SRMP) (English Translation: Sikkim State Forum Party) is a regional political party in the Indian state of Sikkim. Founder and Incumbent President is Rup Narayan Chamling (R. N. Chamling) who is a little brother of former Chief Minister of Sikkim and the president of Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), Pawan Kumar Chamling. History In spite of the objection of Pawan Kumar Chamling, R.N. Chamling stood as an independent candidate in the bye-election of Sikkim Legislative Assembly on 16 September 2014. R. N. The Sikkim National People's Party (SNPP) was a regional political party (State Party (Unrecognized)) in the Indian state of Sikkim. Election symbol was Pen Nib. SNPP didn't have any relationship with Sikkim National Party (SNP) in same state or National People's Party (NPP) in the state of Meghalaya. History Pre-SNPP history Biraj Adhikari and Delay Namgyal Barfungpa were members of the Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee (SPCC, Sikkim branch of Indian National Congress (INC)) which was led by Nar Bahadur Bhandari. Ranipool is a small suburban town located in the bank of river Ranikhola at the junction of National Highway 10 and National Highway 717A in Gangtok District of the Indian state of Sikkim. It is 12 km before from Gangtok main town. It has three roads which lead to Singtam, Pakyong and Gangtok. It falls under the Gangtok Municipal Corporation.
