Sigrid Boo
Sigrid Maren Boo (23 August 1898 – 12 September 1953) was a Norwegian writer of popular books. She was born and died in Oslo, but grew up in Larvik from 1899 to 1909. Her works deal with love, tuberculosis, and service. The book ''Vi som går kjøkkenveien'' (1930) was filmed in 1933 and was adapted for the United States film '' Servants' Entrance'' (1934) released by Fox Film Corporation. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. The municipality of Oslo had a population of in 2022, while the city's greater urban area had a population of in 2019, and the metropolitan area had an estimated population of in 2021. During the Viking Age the area was part of Viken. Larvik
Larvik () is a List of cities in Norway, town and Municipalities of Norway, municipality in Vestfold in Vestfold og Telemark Counties of Norway, county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the city of Larvik. The municipality of Larvik has about 46,364 inhabitants. The municipality has a 110 km coastline, only shorter than that of neighbouring Sandefjord. The city achieved market town status in 1671. Larvik was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The city of Stavern, and the rural municipalities of Brunlanes, Hedrum, and Tjølling were forcefully merged into the municipality of Larvik on 1 January 1988. Tuberculosis
Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease usually caused by '' Mycobacterium tuberculosis'' (MTB) bacteria. Tuberculosis generally affects the lungs, but it can also affect other parts of the body. Most infections show no symptoms, in which case it is known as latent tuberculosis. Around 10% of latent infections progress to active disease which, if left untreated, kill about half of those affected. Typical symptoms of active TB are chronic cough with blood-containing mucus, fever, night sweats, and weight loss. It was historically referred to as consumption due to the weight loss associated with the disease. Infection of other organs can cause a wide range of symptoms. Vi Som Går Kjøkkenveien
''Vi som går kjøkkenveien'' (We Who Enter Through the Kitchen) is a Norwegian comedy film from 1933. The film was a joint production between the Norwegian and Swedish film industries, and it was shot in parallel with a Swedish version titled '' Vi som går köksvägen''. Both versions of the film were directed by Tancred Ibsen and Gustaf Molander. The lead roles in the Norwegian version were played by Theodor Berge and Randi Brænne, whereas the Swedish version starred Carl Barcklind, Tutta Berntzen, and Bengt Djurberg. The indoor scenes in the film were shot at Filmstaden in Råsunda. The outdoor scenes were shot in Tollare and Saxtorp, southeast of Landskrona. The Swedish version of the film was released in 1932. The Norwegian version had its premiere at Konsertpalæet in Bergen on February 3, 1933. The film's Oslo premiere took place on February 20, 1933. Servants' Entrance
''Servants' Entrance'' is a 1934 American Pre-Code musical comedy film. It was written by Samson Raphaelson from the Sigrid Boo novel and directed by Frank Lloyd, with a cartoon sequence by Walt Disney (Who's company now ironically owns this film due to their 2019 Acquisition of Fox) in which an understandably startled Janet Gaynor sings a song while obstreperous animated singing silverware prance around on her bed, an early example of combining live action with animation. Critics found this musical interlude especially charming. This film was adapted from Sigrid Boo's 1930 Norwegian novel ''Vi som går kjøkkenveien'' (''"We Who Enter Through the Kitchen"'') which has an almost identical plot to Eleanor Hoyt Brainerd's popular 1917 novel ''How Could You, Jean?'', which had already been adapted into a film of the same name in 1918, directed by William Desmond Taylor and starring Mary Pickford. Fox Film Corporation
The Fox Film Corporation (also known as Fox Studios) was an American Independent film production studio formed by William Fox (1879–1952) in 1915, by combining his earlier Greater New York Film Rental Company and Box Office Attractions Film Company (founded 1913). The company's first film studios were set up in Fort Lee, New Jersey, but in 1917, William Fox sent Sol M. Wurtzel to Hollywood, California to oversee the studio's new West Coast production facilities, where the climate was more hospitable for filmmaking. On July 23, 1926, the company bought the patents of the Movietone sound system for recording sound onto film.
