Sigmund Mandl
Sigmund S. Mandl (1898-1976) was the founder of the Husky Wrench manufacturing company. His brother Hugo was born in Úsov. On January 29, 1924, he founded Husky Wrench in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with two partners, at about the time he filed his first patent. After selling the business Mandl went to Blackhawk Manufacturing in 1931, and became one of their two chief design engineers. Later, he was General Manager of Die-Mold Corporation, while continuing to hold his position at Blackhawk. Úsov
Úsov (german: Mährisch Aussee, yi, Asyva) is a town in Šumperk District in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 1,200 inhabitants. Administrative parts The village of Bezděkov u Úsova is an administrative part of Úsov. History The first written mention of Úsov is from 1260. The castle was built around 1250. Before 1487 the lords of Vlašim modified the castle. In the 16th century, Úsov was in the possession of the lords of Boskovice, an in 1597 it was acquired by the House of Liechtenstein. The Liechtensteins owned the castle until 1945. The castle was damaged during the Swedish occupation in 1643. Blackhawk Manufacturing Company
Blackhawk is an American brand of hand tools. It is currently a sub-brand of the Proto division of the Stanley Black & Decker. History Blackhawk Manufacturing was founded in 1919 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as a subsidiary of the American Grinder Company (later named Applied Power Corporation). It made automotive tools, such as wrenches and sockets, and a number of specialty tools. Blackhawk introduced a number of innovations to conventional drive tools, such as the "Lock-On" system of locking sockets, gearless ratchets, telescoping ratchet handles, and 7/16" drive tools. Many of these designs were developed by engineers Edward Pfauser and Sigmund Mandl (the latter notable for having founded the Husky Wrench Company prior to working for Blackhawk).
