Pivnichne (), formerly known as Sieverne ( uk, Сєверне ), is a rural settlement in Pokrovsk Raion, Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. As a result of fighting during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, it is likely that very few people still live in the settlement. History Pivnichne was the center of a sovkhoz, which also operated in Pisky and Vodiane. The Russian invasion of Ukraine that began in 2022 has increased the rate of derussification in Ukraine, especially the removal of names associated with Russia and Russian imperialism. The battle of Avdiivka was a battle in the war in Donbas near Avdiivka, Donetsk region, Ukraine that was fought in late January and early February 2017. It saw some of the highest casualties during that phase of the conflict.
