Siege Of Gaza City
The siege of Gaza City began on 2 November 2023, when Israel Defense Forces (IDF) surrounded Gaza City. The siege is part of the ongoing Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip, which was a counterattack to the 2023 Hamas attack on Israel. Gaza City is the most populated city in the Gaza Strip and the battle started on 30 October 2023, when Israel and Hamas clashed in Gaza City. The Rafah Border Crossing ( ar, معبر رفح, Ma`bar Rafaḥ) or Rafah Crossing Point is the sole crossing point between Egypt and the Gaza Strip. Al-Shifa Ambulance Airstrike
On 3 November 2023, amid the Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip and siege of Gaza City, an Israeli airstrike hit an ambulance convoy departing from al-Shifa Hospital carrying critically injured patients. The strike killed 15 people and wounded dozens, with the Palestine Red Crescent Society, which was part of the convoy, saying that all 15 casualties were civilians. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) acknowledged that it carried out the airstrike, and said that Hamas militants were killed in the attack. Al-Quds Hospital
The Al-Quds Hospital is a hospital located in the Tel al-Hawa area of Gaza City, in the Palestinian territories. It is the second largest hospital in Gaza. History The hospital was damaged by Israeli forces in 2009, during the Gaza war of 2008-2009. The hospital was damaged again as part of the 2023 Gaza war. On 11 November, fighting was reported at the hospital. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported that Israeli tanks approached the hospital, and began firing upon it. Bureij
Bureij ( ar, البريج) is a Palestinian refugee camp located in the central Gaza Strip east of the Salah al-Din Road in the Deir al-Balah Governorate. The camp's total land area is 529 dunums and in 2005, it had a population of 34,951 with 28,770 registered refugees. The camp was established in 1949 with a population of 13,000 Palestinians from the broader Gaza area. A small percentage of the refugees were housed in the British army barracks but the bulk of them were housed in tents. The UNRWA built concrete homes in 1950 to replace the tents. Most of the refugees today, like those in most camps in the Gaza Strip today, live in densely populated buildings.
