The Siberian Republic ( Russian: Сибирская Республика, ''Sibirskay Respublika'') (July 17, 1918 – November 3, 1918) was a unrecognized short-living state that existed on the territory of Russia during the Civil War. Background The appearance of the Siberian Republic was the result of many years of struggle by Siberian regionalists for the sovereignty of the region. The ideology of the Siberian Republic was Siberian regionalism (supporters, who occupied the majority of ministerial posts in the government of the new state) History of the Republic Executive power belonged to the Provisional Siberian Government, which was located in Omsk, legislative power belonged to the Siberian Regional Duma. Provisional All-Russian Government
The Provisional All-Russian Government (PA-RG), informally known as The Directory, The Ufa Directory, or The Omsk Directory, was a short-lived government during the Russian Civil War, formed on 23 September 1918 at the State Conference in Ufa as a result of a forced and extremely unstable compromise of various anti-Communist forces in eastern Russia. It was dissolved two months later after the coup, which had brought Admiral Alexander Kolchak to power in Communist-free areas of eastern Russia. The Government was formed from the ''Committee of Members of the Constituent Assembly'' (mainly SR and KD members based in Samara) and from the '' Provisional Siberian Government'' (consisted mainly of regional politicians and rightist officers and based in Omsk). History Of Siberia
The early history of Siberia was greatly influenced by the sophisticated nomadic civilizations of the Scythians ( Pazyryk) on the west of the Ural Mountains and Xiongnu ( Noin-Ula) on the east of the Urals, both flourishing before the Christian era. The steppes of Siberia were occupied by a succession of nomadic peoples, including the Khitan people, various Turkic peoples, and the Mongol Empire. In the Late Middle Ages, Tibetan Buddhism spread into the areas south of Lake Baikal. During the Russian Empire, Siberia was chiefly developed as an agricultural province. The government also used it as a place of exile, sending Avvakum, Dostoevsky, and the Decemberists, among others, to work camps in the region.
