Shéu
Shéu Han (born 3 August 1953), simply known as Shéu (), is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as a central midfielder. He only played for Benfica during a 17-year professional career. He also served as their caretaker manager in 1999. Club career Shéu, who has Chinese ancestry, was born in Inhassoro, Portuguese Mozambique. He arrived in Portugal in 1970, joining S.L. Benfica's youth ranks and making his first appearance with the main squad in October 1972, but only became a regular three seasons later. Shéu would remain in Lisbon until the end of his career and even captained the team from 1987 to 1988. He was an important member in the conquest of nine Primeira Liga championships and six domestic cups. In addition, Shéu played in the 1983 UEFA Cup Final which Benfica lost to R.S.C. Ethnic Chinese In Mozambique
Ethnic Chinese in Mozambique once numbered around five thousand individuals, but their population fell significantly during the Mozambican Civil War. After the return of peace and the expansion of Sino-Mozambican economic cooperation, their numbers have been bolstered by new expatriates from the People's Republic of China. History Origins Chinese people began to settle in the land that makes up the modern state of Mozambique as early as the 1870s, when Portuguese influence in East Africa was growing stronger. Portuguese colonialists recruited Chinese carpenters and unskilled labourers in Macao, then also part of the Portuguese Empire, as well as the neighbouring Siyi region of Guangdong, for work on railway construction. 1988 European Cup Final
The 1988 European Cup Final was a football match played between PSV Eindhoven of the Netherlands and Benfica of Portugal to decide the champion of the 1987–88 European Cup. PSV won 6–5 on penalties after a goalless draw after extra time. The match was played at Neckarstadion, Stuttgart, on 25 May 1988. According to PSV player Berry van Aerle, it was not a particularly good match, with both teams very cautious. However, it was exciting until the end and concluded in a tense penalty shoot-out. For PSV, this win secured a treble of the Dutch Cup, the Dutch Championship and the European Cup. Five members of the PSV side were also part of the Netherlands team that went on to win UEFA Euro 1988 in West Germany that summer. Portuguese Mozambique ( pt, Moçambique) or Portuguese East Africa (''África Oriental Portuguesa'') were the common terms by which Mozambique was designated during the period in which it was a Portuguese Empire, Portuguese colony. In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap. An early illustration of the first international football match between Scotland and England in 1872 shows the Scottish players wearing cowls, and the English wearing a variety of school caps. The Estádio da Luz (), officially named Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica, is a multi-purpose stadium located in Lisbon, Portugal. The 2017–18 Primeira Liga (also known as Liga NOS for sponsorship reasons) was the 84th season of the Primeira Liga, the top professional league for Portuguese association football clubs. ''The Independent'' is a British online newspaper. It was established in 1986 as a national morning printed paper. Nicknamed the ''Indy'', it began as a broadsheet and changed to tabloid format in 2003. The last printed edition was published on Saturday 26 March 2016, leaving only the online edition. The newspaper was controlled by Tony O'Reilly's Irish Independent News & Media from 1997 until it was sold to the Russian oligarch and former KGB Officer Alexander Lebedev in 2010. Graeme Souness
Graeme James Souness (; born 6 May 1953) is a Scottish former professional football player and manager, and current TV pundit. A midfielder, Souness was the captain of the successful Liverpool team of the early 1980s, player-manager of Rangers in the late 1980s and captain of the Scotland national team. He also played for Tottenham Hotspur, Middlesbrough and Sampdoria. Souness' managerial career began when he joined Rangers, leading them to three Scottish titles and four league cups, before joining Liverpool as manager. Although it covers most sports, football is the focal point of it, and almost always is the only sport referred to on the cover. History and profile ''Record'' was founded by Manuel Dias.
