Edward Shuter (c. 1728–1776) was an English actor. Life Shuter was born in London to poor parents. He made his first appearance on the London stage in 1745 in Cibber's ''Schoolboy''. He made a great reputation in old men's parts. He was the original Justice Woodcock in '' Love in a Village'' (1762), Hardcastle in ''She Stoops to Conquer'' (1773), and Sir Anthony Absolute in ''The Rivals ''The Rivals'' is a comedy of manners by Richard Brinsley Sheridan in five acts which was first performed at Covent Garden Theatre on 17 January 1775. Frank Shuter (speedway Rider)
Franklin John Shuter (17 June 1943 – 12 July 1997) was a motorcycle speedway rider from New Zealand, who rode with, and was League Champion with each of the Swindon Robins, the Poole Pirates and the Exeter Falcons in the British League. Early life Shuter was born in Rotorua but spent most of his early life in Christchurch after his parents moved there in 1952. His father Frank, was one of the South Island's leading motor racing drivers. In the early 1960s Shuter drove his father's cars in races at Tahuna Beach, Ruapuna and Wigram. he also competed in motocross events. Speedway career Shuter began riding at the Templeton Speedway in Christchurch in 1963. He moved to England in 1965 and joined the Swindon Robins. In 1969 he was transferred to the Poole Pirates. In late 1970 he returned to New Zealand and had a break from speedway for a year. Shuter won the New Zealand Championship in 1971. He returned to England in 1972 and rode for Poole again. John Shuter (9 February 1855 – 5 July 1920) was a cricketer who played for England and Surrey in the late 19th century. He is best remembered for captaining Surrey to a string of wins in the County Championship around the time it became official in 1890, aided by the bowler George Lohmann and back up by John Sharpe and William Lockwood. Shuter first led Surrey to the County Championship in 1887. They then came first in 1888, tied with Lancashire and Nottinghamshire in 1889, and won again in 1890, 1891 and 1892. John Shuter Smith (ca 1813 – January 18, 1871) was a lawyer and political figure in Canada West. He was born in Port Hope around 1813, the son of John David Smith. He served as mayor of Port Hope in 1852, from 1854 to 1855 and in 1868. He represented the East riding of Durham in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada from 1861 to 1866. His brother Sidney, also a lawyer, served as postmaster general for the Province of Canada and was a member of the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council. Leonard Robert Warner Allen Shuter (21 March 1887 — 21 November 1960) was an English first-class cricketer. The son of the cricketer Leonard Shuter, he was born in March 1887 at Horton Kirby, Kent. He was educated at Tonbridge School, before going up to Pembroke College, Cambridge. Shuter played first-class cricket for the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) against Hampshire at Lord's in 1908. Batting twice in the match as an opening batsman, he was dismissed for 4 runs by Francis Wyatt in the MCC first innings, while in their second innings he was dismissed for 11 runs by Charlie Llewellyn. A private in the Inns of Court Officers' Training Corps, Shuter was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Kent Fortress Royal Engineers, serving with the unit in the First World War. During the war, he gained the temporary rank of lieutenant in May 1915 and the temporary rank of captain in July 1916.
