ShushaChess (2022)
Shusha Chess 2022 - The international chess tournament “Shusha Chess 2022” dedicated to the 190th anniversary of prominent poet and philanthropist Khurshidbanu Natavan was held in Shusha, Azerbaijan on September 21–25, 2022. About tournament The organizers of the Tournament are the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Azerbaijan Republic and Azerbaijan Chess Federation. The playing venue of the Tournament is “Karabakh” hotel in Shusha, Azerbaijan. The tournament will be held in two categories – men and women. In each category, 10 players will be invited by the Organizing Committee. The winner of each category of “Shusha Chess 2022” is determined by the total points scored in the rapid and blitz tournaments. Kübra Öztürk
Kübra Öztürk (born May 11, 1991) is a Turkish female chess player. As of the July 2012 FIDE rating list, she is ranked number 199 in the world and second in Turkey among female active players. She earned FIDE titles as Woman FIDE Master (WFM) in 2006, Woman International Master (WIM) in 2009 and Woman Grandmaster (WGM) on February 5, 2011. She is a student of physical education and sports at Hacettepe University in Ankara. She is a member of Beşiktaş J.K.'s chess team. She was born in 1991 in a low-income family to Durak Öztürk, a worker in a garment workshop, and his wife Gülizar as the third child. She has a sister and a brother. She grew up in a one-room shanty in the slums of Mamak, Ankara with her parents and paralytic grandfather. Shusha District
Shusha District ( az, Şuşa rayonu) is one of the 66 districts of Azerbaijan. It is located in the west of the country and belongs to the Karabakh Economic Region. The district borders the districts of Khojaly, Lachin, and Khojavend. Its capital and largest city is Shusha. As of 2020, the district had a nominal population of 34,700. History The district was formerly part of the Shusha District of the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast (NKAO) of Azerbaijan SSR during the Soviet times. Jolanta Zawadzka
Jolanta Zawadzka (born 8 February 1987) is a Polish chess player with the title of Woman Grandmaster (WGM). In 2004, she won the World Youth Chess Championship for girls U18. She won the women's Polish Chess Championship in 2006, 2011, 2015 and 2018. Ulviyya Fataliyeva ( az, Ülviyyə Fətəliyeva; born 3 August 1996) is an Azerbaijani chess player who holds the title of International Master. Biography Fataliyeva attended Ganja chess school. Ulviyya Fataliyeva participated in the Azerbaijani Girls' Championships (U20) and won this tournament in 2011, at age 14. Gunay Vugar qizi Mammadzada ( az, Günay Vüqar qızı Məmmədzadə; born June 19, 2000) is an Azerbaijani chess player who holds the titles of International Master (IM) and Woman Grandmaster (WGM) through the International Chess Federation (FIDE). She has been an under-10 girls' World Youth Chess Championship, World Youth Champion, and both an under-8 and an under-14 girls' European Youth Chess Championship, European Youth Champion. Mammadzada is a two-time Azerbaijani Chess Championship, Azerbaijani women's national champion, which she achieved in 2017 and 2019.
