Kübra Öztürk
Kübra Öztürk (born May 11, 1991) is a Turkish female chess player. As of the July 2012 FIDE rating list, she is ranked number 199 in the world and second in Turkey among female active players. She earned FIDE titles as Woman FIDE Master (WFM) in 2006, Woman International Master (WIM) in 2009 and Woman Grandmaster (WGM) on February 5, 2011. She is a student of physical education and sports at Hacettepe University in Ankara. She is a member of Beşiktaş J.K.'s chess team. She was born in 1991 in a low-income family to Durak Öztürk, a worker in a garment workshop, and his wife Gülizar as the third child. She has a sister and a brother. She grew up in a one-room shanty in the slums of Mamak, Ankara with her parents and paralytic grandfather. The Chess Olympiad is a biennial chess tournament in which teams representing nations of the world compete. FIDE organises the tournament and selects the host nation. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, FIDE held an Online Chess Olympiad in 2020 and 2021, with a rapid time control that affected players' online ratings. The use of the name "Chess Olympiad" for FIDE's team championship is of historical origin and implies no connection with the Olympic Games. Birth of the Olympiad The first Olympiad was unofficial. For the 1924 Olympics an attempt was made to include chess in the Olympic Games but this failed because of problems with distinguishing between amateur and professional players. Betül Cemre Yıldız Kadıoğlu (born 16 May 1989) is a top female chess player from Turkey. She is a Woman Grandmaster (WGM), and won the Turkish women's championship eleven times in total. She became in 2004 Woman International Master (WIM), and was awarded the title Woman Grandmaster in 2012, becoming the first ever Turkish WGM. Yıldız won the bronze medal at the World Under-18 Girls Championship of 2007 and at the World Junior Girls Championship of 2009. Biography Yıldız was born on May 16, 1989, in Adapazarı. Isparta
