John Shumaker
John J. Shumaker (March 13, 1929 – October 13, 1999) was an American politician from Pennsylvania who served as a Republican member of the Pennsylvania State Senate for the 15th district from 1983 to 1995. Anthony Warren Shumaker (born 14 May 1973) is an American former Major League Baseball pitcher. He was born in Tucson, Arizona. Shumaker played baseball while attending college at Cardinal Stritch University. He was drafted in the 23rd round of the 1995 Major League Baseball Draft by the Philadelphia Phillies. He played at the Major League level with the team in 1999. Shumaker-Lewis House, also known as Virgil A. Lewis House, was a historic home located in Mason, West Virginia. It was built about 1885, and was a two-story Victorian-era frame cottage. It featured a two tier Eastlake movement style porch. It was the home of Virgil A. Lewis (1848-1912), the first State Historian and Archivist of West Virginia, 1905–1912. It was the headquarters of the Mason City Historical Society. It was demolished in 2014 and the Virgil A. Lewis Park now occupies the site. Shumaker Naval Ammunition Depot
The Shumaker Naval Ammunition Depot was a munitions manufacturing facility of the United States Navy located in Calhoun and Ouachita counties in southern Arkansas. It operated from 1945 until 1957, producing Sidewinder missiles and other weapons. The property was sold off in 1961. Part of the original site now houses Southern Arkansas University Tech. Two of its surviving buildings, the 500-Man Barracks and the Administration Building, were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2018. At the time of construction, the depot was planned to be a 110 square mile site serving as the "principal rocket loading, assembly, and storage plant" for the United States, with a permanent complement of 5000 personnel.
