"Shuckatoom" is theme music written by James R. Kirk for Casey Kasem's weekly radio program, ''American Top 40''. Initially, the jingles and music beds were created by PAMS, a radio jingle company from Dallas, Texas. The company suspended operations in 1978, by which time ''AT40''’s production company, Watermark Inc. Watermark Inc. was a radio syndication company that was founded in 1969 by Tom Rounds and Ron Jacobs. Watermark's best known programs were ''American Top 40'' and its spinoff ''American Country Countdown''. ''American Top 40'' (previously abbreviated to ''AT40'') is an internationally syndicated, independent song countdown radio program created by Casey Kasem, Don Bustany, Tom Rounds, and Ron Jacobs. The program is currently hosted by Ryan Seacrest and presented as an adjunct to his weekday radio program, ''On Air with Ryan Seacrest''. Originally a production of Watermark Inc. Kemal Amin "Casey" Kasem (April 27, 1932 – June 15, 2014) was an American disc jockey, actor, and radio personality, who created and hosted several radio countdown programs, notably '' American Top 40''. He was the first actor to voice Norville "Shaggy" Rogers in the ''Scooby-Doo'' franchise (1969 to 1997 and 2002 to 2009) and as Dick Grayson/Robin in ''Super Friends'' (1973–1985). Kasem began hosting the original ''American Top 40'' on the weekend of July 4, 1970, and remained there until 1988. He would then spend nine years hosting another countdown titled ''Casey's Top 40'', beginning in January 1989 and ending in February 1998, before returning to revive ''American Top 40'' in 1998. PAMS Productions, Inc. (an acronym for Production, Advertising and Merchandising Service), based in Dallas, Texas, was one of the most famous jingle production companies in American broadcasting. It produced identification packages for radio stations around the world, as well as some commercial music. History The company was founded by William B. Meeks, Jr. (1921–1999) in 1951. Meeks worked on the air and also sold advertising, often creating jingles for some of the clients he sold time to. Eventually he decided to devote all his time to advertising, and in 1951 he started PAMS Advertising Agency, Inc. A watermark is an identifying image or pattern in paper that appears as various shades of lightness/darkness when viewed by transmitted light (or when viewed by reflected light, atop a dark background), caused by thickness or density variations in the paper.
