Shu Junrong
Shu Junrong (; born June 25, 1988, in Mayang, Hunan) is a former Chinese male slalom canoeist specializing in the C2 event with Hu Minghai. The pair competed together from 2003, when they were first paired until the 2013 National Games. Early life Shu was born into a Slalom canoeing family in Shiyantan village (石眼潭村), Jiangkouya town (江口墟镇), Mayang, Hunan. His elder brother Shu Yong (舒用) was the gold medalist in K1 at two national games and the gold medalist at the 2000 Asian Championships. His elder female cousin Shu Zhenghua (舒正华) was also a canoeist. Shu loved playing in the river near his house, he had been a good swimmer while he was a small child. At the age of 13, in 2001, Shu left Mayang with his brother. They moved to Guangzhou, entering in Guangdong International Rowing Center and following his brother into slalom canoeing. Hu Minghai
Hu Minghai (; born April 19, 1989, in Yueyang, Hunan) is a former Chinese male slalom canoeist specializing in the C2 event. He and his partner Shu Junrong competed together as a team from 2003 to the 2013 National Games. Early life Hu was born in Wensheng residential community () of Rongjiawan (荣家湾), Yueyang county, Hunan. As a small child he used to go swimming and rowing in a fishing boat behind his parents' back in summer in a pond near his home. He had grown to be an excellent swimmer and rower at the age of eight or nine. He had strong arms and good coordination skills for rowing. In 2001 it was Sui Hongjun (隋红军), who served as a whitewater slalom coach in Heyuan Water Sports Administration, Guangdong, who discovered Hu's potential in canoeing and recommended Hu to take part in slalom training. Canoe Slalom World Cup
The ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup is an annual series of races in canoe slalom held under the auspices of the International Canoe Federation. It has been held since 1988 in four canoe and kayak disciplines for men and women. The four original disciplines were men's single canoe (C1), men's double canoe (C2), men's kayak (K1) and women's kayak. A women's single canoe discipline (C1) has been added to the world cup in 2010. The men's C2 event was removed from the world cup series in 2018 and it was replaced by the mixed C2 event. 2018 was also the first time that world cup points were awarded for the extreme K1 event. Competition format The world cup is a series of individual races usually taking place during the summer months of June, July and August. Pau-Pyrénées Whitewater Stadium
Pau-Pyrénées Whitewater Stadium (french: Stade d'eaux-vives Pau-Pyrénées) is the home training facility for the French national canoe slalom team. It was first used to train the French team for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. It 2009, it was the first of three venues used in the canoe slalom World Cup. It is also a whitewater park for recreational use by the general public. History and Design The town of Pau has long been a center of activity for French canoe slalom. The natural rapids in the center of town are still equipped with hanging slalom gates. Penrith Whitewater Stadium
The Penrith Whitewater Stadium is located near Sydney, Australia. It is an artificial whitewater sporting facility which hosted the canoe/kayak slalom events at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. The facility is part of the Penrith Lakes Scheme, which is converting open-pit sand and gravel mines into lakes for recreation. It is close to Cranebrook and is adjacent to the Sydney International Regatta Centre. These lakes are not filled via the Nepean River, but are filled via rain water and ground water. The operation of the facility aerates the water and improves water quality in the flat water rowing and canoeing course. The course is in the shape of a massive 'U', 320 metres in length, between 0.8 and 1.2 metres deep and between eight and 12 metres wide. The overall drop from top to bottom is 5.5 metres. Prague-Troja Canoeing Centre
The Prague Canoeing Centre is one of the most frequently used venues for international canoe slalom competition. Built in 1983 in Czechoslovakia, it diverts water around a dam at Troja on the Vltava river in Prague. Its two unique features are its use of car and truck tires as flow diverters and its shallow slope, closer to 1% than the usual nearly 2% for such venues. Despite these characteristics, the Troja facility has hosted ten World Cup races and one World Championship in the 21 years 1992–2012, and the 2013 World Championships. Venue The channel walls are vertical, with flow diverters constructed of automobile and truck tires stacked side by side to form large cylinders attached to the bottom by beams running through the tires. The 2007 Canoe Slalom World Cup was a series of four races in 4 canoeing and kayaking categories organized by the International Canoe Federation (ICF). It was the 20th edition. The series consisted of Pan American continental championships which were open to all countries and 3 world cup races. Calendar Final standings The winner of each race was awarded 50 points. Paddlers outside the top 20 in the C2 event and outside the top 40 in the other 3 events were awarded 2 points for participation. Zhangjiajie
Zhangjiajie (), also known in Tujia language as ''Zhangx jif avlar'' /dzaŋ˩ ji˥ a˩.la˥/, is a prefecture-level city in the northwestern part of Hunan Province, China. The 2006 Canoe Slalom World Cup was a series of eight races in 4 canoeing and kayaking categories organized by the International Canoe Federation (ICF). It was the 19th edition. The series consisted of 4 continental championships (European, Pan American, Oceania and Asian), 3 world cup races and the world championships. Calendar Final standings The winner of each world cup race was awarded 30 points. Semifinalists were guaranteed at least 5 points and paddlers eliminated in heats received 2 points each.
