Shove Knife
A shove knife is a forcible entry tool used mainly by firefighters. Generally, they consist of a small, semi-rigid piece of 10 gauge steel with an indented end. The device is inserted between a door and the door frame, above the spring latch on outwardly-swinging doors equipped with key-in-the-knob locks. The tool is pulled down and outward, releasing the locking mechanism. Forcible Entry
Forcible entry is "the unlawful taking of possession of real property by force or threats of force or unlawful entry into or onto another's property, especially when accompanied by force". The term is also sometimes used for entry by military, police, or emergency personnel, also called breaching. For the fire service, forcible entry is defined by the International Fire Service Training Association (IFSTA) as: Breaching doorways can be differentiated as "through the lock" or "through the door" depending on the techniques used. Steel
Steel is an alloy made up of iron with added carbon to improve its strength and fracture resistance compared to other forms of iron. Many other elements may be present or added. Door Frame
A door is a hinged or otherwise movable barrier that allows ingress (entry) into and egress (exit) from an enclosure. The created opening in the wall is a ''doorway'' or ''portal''. A door's essential and primary purpose is to provide security by controlling access to the doorway (portal). Conventionally, it is a panel that fits into the doorway of a building, room, or vehicle. Latch
A latch or catch (called sneck in Northern England and Scotland) is a type of mechanical fastener that joins two (or more) objects or surfaces while allowing for their regular separation. A latch typically engages another piece of hardware on the other mounting surface.
