Shoval (organization)
Shoval - All is created for your glory (Hebrew: שׁב"ל - שהכל ברא לכבודו) is an initiative of Jewish orthodox lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in Israel that actively promotes tolerance and understanding of LGBT people within religious communities in Israel through meeting with educators. It is a cooperation of gay men from Havruta, and lesbian women from Bat Kol, and is supported and promoted by these organizations. The organisation's name derives from the second of the Sheva Brachot. Mission statement Shoval promotes tolerance and understanding of LGBT people within the religious communities in Israel. Shoval's main focus is to create a safe place within the religious communities in Israel for LGBT adolescents. Shoval ( he, שׁוֹבָל) is a kibbutz in southern Israel. Located in the northern Negev desert near the Bedouin city of Rahat, it falls under the jurisdiction of Bnei Shimon Regional Council. In it had a population of . Etymology The kibbutz founders wanted to name it "Eilat" as they wanted to settle near the Red Sea, however, the naming committee chose the name Shoval. Bat Kol (organization)
Bat Kol (Hebrew בּת קול: lit. 'daughter of a voice' meaning 'echo') is an Israeli organization that provides support services to lesbians who are Orthodox Jews. The organization was founded to provide support to religious women struggling to reconcile their traditional religious lifestyle and their sexual orientation. In July 2008, Bat Kol held its first elections formalized its formation. Bat Kol supports the idea that lesbian and Orthodox Jewish identities are compatible, and provides support to lesbian couples who wish to raise children as practicing Orthodox Jews. The organization works in partnership with a number of Orthodox Rabbis and others to advocate acceptance of different sexual orientations within the broader Jewish community and Israeli society. Havruta ( Hebrew: חַבְרוּתָא, from Talmudic Aramaic for fellowship) is an organization of religiously-inclined Jewish LGBT people in Israel which acts to promote tolerance and acceptance of gay, lesbian, and transgender people in the Orthodox community in Israel. Havruta started as part of Jerusalem Open House and split off in 2010.
