The Kerala Legislative Assembly, popularly known as the Kerala Niyamasabha, is the State Assembly of Kerala, one of the 28 states in India. The Assembly is formed by 140 elected representatives. Cherpulassery
Cherpulassery (also known by its former name Cherpulacherry) is a town and municipality in the Palakkad district, of Kerala, India. Cherpulassery is often called the Sabarimala of Malabar as the famous Ayyappankavu temple is located here . The Puthanalakkal Bhagavathi temple and the Kalavela and Pooram associated with it is one of the largest festivals in the region. The town is located about west of the district headquarters at Palakkad on State Highway 53. Shornur
Shornur is a town and a municipality located in the Palakkad district, in the Indian state of Kerala, located on the banks of the Bharathapuzha River. The town covers an area of 32.28 km2. Geography Shornur is located at . It has an average elevation of 49 metres (160 feet). History This place was originally a part of the ''Nedunganad'' Swaroopam dynasty, which ruled over the present-day Pattambi and Ottapalam Taluks. By the end of the 15th century CE, Nedunganad came under the Zamorin of Calicut. The Chieftains of Shornur known as the Kavalappara Moopil Nair maintained his territory as a buffer zone between the Zamorin and the Rajas of kochi often taking sides keeping in mind his personal interests of the time . 2016 Kerala Legislative Assembly Election
The 2016 Kerala Legislative Assembly election was held on 16 May 2016 to elect 140 MLAs to the 14th Kerala Legislative Assembly. Voter turnout was 77.53%, up from 75.12% in the previous election. The result was declared on 19 May 2016. The Left Democratic Front (LDF), led by Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)), won the election, defeating the incumbent United Democratic Front (UDF), led by the Indian National Congress (INC), which could only win 47 seats in the election. Pinarayi Vijayan was sworn in as the Chief Minister on 25 May. Background The tenure of the members of the Legislative Assembly in the state was to end on 31 May 2016. As per the voters list published on 14 January 2016, there were around 2.60 crore (26 million) eligible voters including 6.18 lakh (618,000) new voters in the age group 18–21. The thirteenth Kerala legislative assembly election was held on 13 April 2011 to elect members representing 140 constituencies in Kerala. Election results were released on 13 May 2011. Vellinezhi is a small but culturally crucial village located in Palakkad district of Kerala in southern India. Vaniyamkulam is an old town and an important trading hub of Southern Malabar (Northern Kerala), Malabar in Kerala state, India, particularly of livestock arriving from the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu.
