Gordon Raphael is an American record producer and musician from Seattle, Washington (state), Washington, and New York (state), New York, currently living in Hebden Bridge (UK), after a few years in Berlin. Raphael is most widely known for his work with The Strokes, whom he met while attending an early show at Luna Lounge on Ludlow Street, New York City. He produced their debut EP ''The Modern Age'' as well as their first two albums ''Is This It'' and ''Room on Fire''. The EP and first album were recorded entirely in his basement studio Transporterraum NYC (co-owned by Jimmy Goodman). He has also produced many songs with Sarah Maguire, Fake Chemical State for ex-Skunk Anansie lead singer Skin (musician), Skin, Mexico's top rock band Fobia, and the well-loved album ''Soviet Kitsch'' by Regina Spektor. Soviet Kitsch
''Soviet Kitsch'' is the major label debut and third album by American singer/songwriter Regina Spektor. It was originally released on Shoplifter Records in May 2003 but was reissued in August 2004 when Spektor signed with Sire Records. The title is drawn from Milan Kundera's expression for the vacuous aesthetics of Stalinist-style communism, a theme in his book ''The Unbearable Lightness of Being''. One version of the album was released with a bonus DVD, which included a short promotional film titled ''The Survival Guide to Soviet Kitsch'' and the music video for the song " Us". Fobia
Fobia is a Mexican rock en español band from Mexico City. History The band was formed in 1987 by Leonardo de Lozanne and Francisco "Paco" Huidobro, brother of Micky Huidobro of Molotov. The original lineup consisted of Lozanne, Huidobro, bassist Javier 'Chá!' Ramirez, keyboardist Iñaki Vazquez, and Gabriel Kuri on drums. Kuri was later replaced by Jorge ‘Chiquis’ Amaro who was followed by multi-instrumentalist Jay de la Cueva, (lead singer of the Mexican glam metal band Moderatto). Skin (musician)
Deborah Anne Dyer (born 3 August 1967), known mononymously by the stage name Skin, is a British singer, songwriter and electronic music DJ. She is the lead vocalist of British rock band Skunk Anansie, a band often grouped as part of the Britrock movement in the UK and gained attention for her powerful, wide-ranging soprano voice and striking look. In 2015, she joined the judging panel of the Italian version of the talent show ''The X Factor'' for one season, and 2016 was on the cover of the UK lesbian magazine ''Diva''. Skunk Anansie
Skunk Anansie are a British rock band whose members include Skin (lead vocals, guitar), Cass (bass, guitar, backing vocals), Ace (guitar, backing vocals) and Mark Richardson (drums and percussion). Skunk Anansie formed in 1994, disbanded in 2001 and reformed in 2009. The name "Skunk Anansie" is taken from Akan folk tales of Anansi the spider-man of Ghana, with "Skunk" added to "make the name nastier". ''Fake Chemical State'' is the second solo album by Skunk Anansie lead vocalist Skin. Released on 20 March 2006, the album was produced by Gordon Raphael and Skin herself, except for the first single "Alone in My Room" which Skin produced with former Mansun lead vocalist Paul Draper. The track "Take Me On" features Italian music group Marlene Kuntz with whom Skin previously collaborated on the track "La canzone che scrivo per te" for their album ''Che cosa vedi''. ''Room on Fire'' is the second studio album by American rock band the Strokes, released on October 28, 2003, through RCA Records. Its title is derived from a lyric in the song "Reptilia". ''Is This It'' is the debut studio album by American rock band the Strokes. It was first released on July 30, 2001, in Australia, with RCA Records handling the release internationally and Rough Trade Records handling the United Kingdom release. It was recorded at Transporterraum in New York City with producer Gordon Raphael during March and April 2001. For their debut, the band strived to capture a simple sound that was not significantly enhanced in the studio.
