Shamit Shome (born September 5, 1997) is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Cavalry FC. Early life Shome, a Bengali, was born in Edmonton to Bangladeshi parents. He played youth soccer with Edmonton Southwest United SC from 2003 until 2014. While playing for the Impact, Shome studied electrical engineering at Concordia University. Club career FC Edmonton Shome joined FC Edmonton's academy program in 2015. In the fall of that year he enrolled at the University of Alberta and had a standout year with the Alberta Golden Bears scoring six goals in twelve appearances. This earned him the CWUAA Rookie of the Year Award. On February 12, 2016, Shome signed his first professional contract with FC Edmonton. ''Bhuvan Shome'' is a 1969 Indian Hindi-language drama film directed by Mrinal Sen based on the story of Balai Chand Mukhopadhyay. The cast includes Utpal Dutt (Mr. Bhuvan Shome) and Suhasini Mulay (Gauri, a village belle). Sen based his film on a Bengali story by Balai Chand Mukhopadhyay. The film is considered a landmark in modern Indian cinema. This was the debut film of Suhasini Mulay. Amitabh Bachchan did the voiceover and was the narrator. Protiva Bose (also spelled Pratibha Basu; bn, প্রতিভা বসু) (March 13, 1915 – 13 October 2006) was a singer and one of the most prolific and widely read Bengali writers of novels, short stories, and essays. Biography She was born in a village near Dhaka in 1915 to Asutosh Shome and Sarajubala Shome. She was known as Ranu Shome before she married the Bengali writer, Buddhadev Bose in 1934. She had two daughters, Meenakshi Dutta and Damayanti Basu Singh, and a son, Suddhasil Bose, who died at the age of 42. One of her granddaughters, Kankabati Dutta, is also a well-known writer in Bengali. Bose was also a singer of popular songs. She was a pupil of Ustad Gul Mohammad Khan. The poet Nazrul Islam, singer Dilip Kumar Roy, and Rabindranath Tagore admired her voice and taught her their own songs. Chitra Singh () is an Indian ghazal singer. She, alongside her husband, Jagjit Singh, popularized the ghazal genre. Respectfully known as the "king and queen of the Ghazal world," the husband and wife duo created some of the most successful Indian music of the 1970s and '80s. Personal life Chitra was born Chitra Shome into a Bengali family. After completing her education, she was married to Debo Prasad Dutta, an executive in a leading advertising agency.
