Shokouh Riazi
Shokouh Riazi (; 1921–1962) was an Iranian Modernist painter, and educator. She a pioneer of modern art in Iran and is thought to have been the first Iranian women to study art in Paris. Riazi taught painting classes, and some members of the Saqqakhaneh movement had been her students. Biography Shokouh Riazi was born in 1921 in Tehran, Qajar Iran, into a prosperous family. Her mother was Betul Dolatshahi of the noble Dolatshahi family of Persia, and was the daughter of Qajar prince and Islamic philosopher . Shokouh Riazi's father was , a politician who served as an Iranian military attaché in France. Because of her father's work she lived in Paris until age 14, after which her family moved to Shiraz. She was fluent in French; and she served as a translator between French and Persian languages. Charles Hossein Zenderoudi ( fa, (شارل) Øسین زنده‌رودی; born March 11, 1937) is an Iranian painter, calligrapher and sculptor, known as a pioneer of Iranian modern art and as one of the earliest artists to incorporate Arabic calligraphy elements into his artwork. He is a pioneer of the Saqqa-Khaneh movement, a genre of neo-traditional modern art found in Iran that is rooted in a history of coffee-house paintings and Shia Islam visual elements. He lives in Paris and New York. Biography Hossein Zenderoudi was born in Tehran, Iran on March 11, 1937. His family was deeply religious, and they often read the Quran. Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, (Persian: موزه هنرهای معاصر تهران), also known as TMoCA, is among the largest art museums in Tehran and Iran. It has collections of more than 3,000 items that include 19th and 20th century's world-class European and American paintings, prints, drawings and sculptures. TMoCA also has one of the greatest collections of Iranian modern and contemporary art. The museum was inaugurated by Empress Farah Pahlavi in 1977, just two years before the 1979 Revolution.
