Shock Troopers
is a run and gun arcade game developed by Saurus and published by SNK in 1997 for the Neo-Geo arcade and home platform. Gameplay involves taking command of one or three soldiers in an eight-way shooter. A second game in the series, '' Shock Troopers: 2nd Squad'', followed up in 1998. Gameplay At the beginning of each session, players choose whether to go through the game in one of two modes, "Lonely Wolf" or "Team Battle". In "Lonely Wolf", one character is controlled throughout the game, while "Team Battle" allows selecting a band of three soldiers through their missions, switching between them on-the-fly. Choosing to go it alone gives a higher starting life total, while proceeding as a team will give a wider variety of special weapons as well as a higher starting total (ten for each of the three characters instead of twenty for one). At the beginning of the game, there is also a choice to travel through the Mountain, Jungle, or Valley route. Halfway through the game, a ... DotEmu
Dotemu SAS (originally DotEmu SAS) is a French video game developer and publisher based in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, founded in 2007 by Xavier Liard and Romain Tisserand. In April 2010, Dotemu launched a new digital distribution service that would sell games without digital rights management, akin to Good Old Games. The company cited a too strong market competition and their focus shifting towards game development rather than game distribution. In September 2015, Liard and Tisserand sold their company to an unnamed, private investor. Later that month, they founded a new video game publisher, Playdigious. Subsequently, in October 2014, Cyrille Imbert was appointed as Dotemu's chief executive officer. In March 2018, Dotemu ann ... Neo Geo
Neo Geo is a family of video game hardware developed by SNK. On the market from 1990 to 2004, the brand originated with the release of an arcade system, the Neo Geo MVS and its home console counterpart, the Neo Geo AES. The Neo Geo MVS was successful with arcade operators worldwide. Both the MVS and AES were powerful for the time, and the AES allows for fully authentic versions of games released for the MVS. However, the high price for both the AES console and its games prevented it from directly competing with its contemporaries, the Sega Genesis, Super NES, and TurboGrafx-16. Years later, SNK released the Neo Geo CD, a more cost-effective console with games released on compact discs. The console was met with limited success, due in part to its slow CD-ROM drive. In an attempt to compete with increasingly popular 3D games, SNK released the Hyper Neo Geo 64 arcade system in 1997 as the successor to its aging MVS. The system did not fare well and only a few games were release ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |
