Iliza Vie Shlesinger (; born ) is an American comedian, actress, television host, executive producer, and screenwriter. She was the 2008 winner of NBC's ''Last Comic Standing'' and went on to host the syndicated dating show ''Excused'' and the TBS game show ''Separation Anxiety''. In 2017, Shlesinger hosted her own late-night talk show called '' Truth & Iliza'' on Freeform. As of 2022, she has released six comedy specials on Netflix. Her sketch comedy show '' The Iliza Shlesinger Sketch Show'' premiered on Netflix in April 2020. Early life Iliza Vie Shlesinger was born in New York City to a Jewish family. Bernard Edward "Ned" Shlesinger III (born December 17, 1960) is an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He was appointed as an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Atlanta in Georgia in 2017. Biography Early life Bernard Shlesinger III was born on December 17, 1960, in Washington, D.C. to Bernard E. “Bill” Shlesinger Jr. and Rita Belmont Shlesinger. Bill Shlesinger was an inventor and attorney. Bernard Shlesinger has two brothers and three sisters. Shlesinger attended Mount Vernon High School in Alexandria, Virginia, then entered Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, with plans to become a farmer. Miriam Shlesinger (20 May 1947, in Miami Beach – 10 November 2012) was a US-Israeli linguist and interpreter. Biography Miriam Shlesinger was born in 1947 in Florida. In 1964 she moved to Israel in order to study. She completed her BA at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Musicology and English Linguistics. At the beginning of the 1970s Shlesinger took up Translation Studies at the Bar-Ilan University in Ramat Gan. From 1978 she taught at the Institute for Translation Studies at the same university. She completed her MA in Poetics and Literary Studies in 1990 at the Tel Aviv University with a thesis on "Simultaneous interpretation as a factor in effecting shifts in the position of texts in the oral-literate continuum". She completed her PhD at Bar-Ilan University, where she was head of the Institute for Translation Studies from 2003 to 2007.
