Shire Airport
Shire Airport, also known as Shire Inda Selassie Airport or Indaselassie Airport, is an airport serving Shire, a city in the Tigray National Regional State of Ethiopia. The airport is just south of the city. Shire Airport was constructed by Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation, Transport Infrastructure Construction Sector. The project was signed to construct in 2015 and completed in 2017. The project included airport runway, apron, and taxiway, as well as a road running from Shire city to the airport. Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority
The Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority (ECAA, am, የኢትዮጵያ ሲቪል ኤቪዬሽን ባለሥልጣን) is an agency of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Government of Ethiopia. It was established under Proclamation No. 273/2002. The Ethiopian Civil Aviation Accident Prevention and Investigation Bureau conducts aircraft accident investigations in Ethiopia or involving Ethiopian aircraft. The Flight Safety Department of the Ethiopian CAA conducted aircraft accident investigations in Ethiopia and/or involving Ethiopian aircraft. History The first aircraft flight in Ethiopia was the Potez 25, piloted by Frenchman André Millet, which landed just west of Addis Ababa from Djibouti in 1929. Shire

Shire, Ethiopia
Shire (, ; , ), also known as Inda Selassie (, meaning "House of the Trinity"), is a city and separate woreda in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia. The city is the administrative center of the Semien Mi'irabawi Zone. It was part of Tahtay Koraro district. History Origin An early mention of Shire is in one of the three surviving charters of Emperor Dawit I (r. 1382-1412). 20th century As part of the Second Italo-Ethiopian War, Italian units under General Pietro Badoglio advanced out of Axum on 29 February 1936 to attack the Ethiopian army under ''Ras'' Imru Haile Selassie deployed around Shire in an action known as the Battle of Shire. The Tigray Region, officially the Tigray National Regional State, is the northernmost regional state in Ethiopia. The Tigray Region is the homeland of the Tigrayan, Irob, and Kunama people. Its capital and largest city is Mekelle. Tigray is the fifth-largest by area, the fifth-most populous, and the fifth-most densely populated of the 11 regional states. Addis Ababa Bole International Airport is an international airport in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It is in the Bole district, southeast of the city centre and north of Bishoftu. The airport was formerly known as ''Haile Selassie I International Airport''. It is the main hub of Ethiopian Airlines, the national airline that serves destinations in Ethiopia and throughout the African continent, as well as nonstop service to Asia, Europe, North America and South America. Alula Aba Airport
Alula Aba Nega Airport , also known as Mekelle Airport, is an airport serving Mekelle, the capital city of the Tigray Region in northern Ethiopia. The airport is located southeast of the city. History This airport was built in the late 1990s to replace an older one located from Mekelle. The airport was named after the famous Ethiopian military leader Ras Alula, also known as Alula Aba Nega (Nega was his favorite horse, following the custom of using "Abba" plus attaching the horse's name to that of a well-known warrior's first name). He is well known for his battles against Italy, the Ottoman Turks, Egypt and the Battle of Adwa. Over the last years, the Ethiopian federal authorities have significantly increased funding for rail and road construction to build an infrastructure, that allows better economic development. Railways Ethiopia is building a standard gauge railway network, the National Railway Network of Ethiopia, planned to consist of up to 5,000 km of railways in a number of years. The railway network serves a strategic goal to allow Ethiopia a sustainable and stable economic development.
