Shipyard Acres was an unincorporated community in Napa County, California. It lies at an elevation of 33 feet (10 m). Shipyard Acres is located south-southeast of Napa. History Shipyard Acres was a wartime neighborhood with a peak population of over 2,550. Residents lived in nearly 400 plywood houses that were built to primarily house families of workers involved in building a variety of ships at Basalt Rock Company for World War II effort. Cuttings Wharf, California
Cuttings Wharf is an unincorporated community in Napa County, California. It lies at an elevation of 7 feet (2 m). Cuttings Wharf is located on the Napa River, northwest of Napa Junction. In 1893 Francis Cutting developed a wharf at this location so that ships could pick up fruit grown in Napa at the Cutting Fruit Packing Company. In 1924, Napa County purchased the site as a public boat landing A fishing resort adjacent to the wharf was built by Ernest Lundy. Mae Norman operated the resort from 1928 until 1961. Most of the buildings of the resort were razed, though Charles Moore moved some of them to his resort also located adjacent to the wharf property. Benicia Arsenal
The Benicia Arsenal (1851–1964) and Benicia Barracks (1852–66) were part of a large military reservation located next to Suisun Bay in Benicia, California. For over 100 years, the arsenal was the primary US Army Ordnance facility for the West Coast of the United States. In 1847 a parcel of land adjoining the Benicia city limits on the east was acquired for a military reserve. First occupation of the post was on April 9, 1849, when two companies of the 2nd Infantry Regiment set up camp to establish Benicia Barracks, which also housed the 3rd Artillery Regiment. In 1851, after the urging of General Persifor F. Smith, the first Ordnance Supply Depot in the West was established in Benicia. In 1852 it was designated Benicia Arsenal. It is located along California State Route 221, the Napa- Vallejo Highway, and is one of California's five state hospitals. The Mare Island Naval Shipyard (MINSY) was the first United States Navy base established on the Pacific Ocean. It is located northeast of San Francisco in Vallejo, California.
