Shimizu, Hokkaido
is a small towns of Japan, town located at the base of the Hidaka Mountains, Hidaka Mountain Range in Tokachi Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan. The name Shimizu is taken from the Ainu people, Ainu word "Pekerebetsu", which means bright clean river. Hidaka, Hokkaido
is a town located in Hidaka Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan. Geography Hidaka Town is divided into two exclaves, which coincide with the former towns of Hidaka and Monbetsu. The town of Biratori lies between the two wards separating them. Hidaka Ward (Hidaka-ku) lies in the Hidaka Mountains at a cross road leading to Sapporo, Furano, Obihiro, and Biratori. These crossroads lead to Hidaka and Nisshō passes. Monbetsu Ward (Monbetsu-ku) lies on the coast of the Pacific Ocean at the outlet of the Saru River. New Chitose Airport
is an international airport located south-southeast of Chitose and Tomakomai, Hokkaidō, Japan, serving the Sapporo metropolitan area. By both traffic and land area, it is the largest airport in Hokkaidō. It is adjacent to Chitose Air Base, a Japan Air Self-Defense Force base which houses F-15 Eagle fighter jets, the Japanese Air Force One government aircraft and a number of smaller emergency response aircraft and helicopters. Chitose and New Chitose have separate runways but are interconnected by taxiways, and aircraft at either facility can enter the other by ground if permitted; the runways at Chitose are occasionally used to relieve runway closures at New Chitose due to winter weather. Obihiro, Hokkaido
is a city in Tokachi Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan. Obihiro is the only designated city in the Tokachi area. As of February 29, 2020, the city has an estimated population of 165,851. The next most populous municipality in Tokachi is the adjacent town of Otofuke, with less than a third of Obihiro's population. The city had approximately 500 foreign residents in 2008. Nisshō Pass
is a mountain pass high at the north-end of the Hidaka Mountains of Hokkaidō, Japan. The east side feeds into the Tokachi River system and the west side the Saru River system. Overview The area is an important route connecting central and eastern Hokkaido. Although the elevation is only 1,022m, the vegetation and natural environment is comparable to that of 3,000m class mountain areas in Honshu, and driving conditions can be treacherous. Visibility is often impaired due to heavy fog or snowstorms, depending on the season, and the 33.3-km section from Ōdai bridge in Hidaka to Ishiyama in Shimizu is designated a special traffic regulation zone, resulting in measures to improve visibility, and prevent snow and ice on the road surface.
