Shieli District
Shieli ( kk, Шиелі ауданы, ) is a district of Kyzylorda Region in southern Kazakhstan. The administrative center of the district is the urban-type settlement of Shieli. Population: Shieli district is located in the middle reaches of the ancient Syr Darya River. In the eastern side there are the ancient cities of Sighnaq, Bestam, known to all, in the southern side the ancient Karatau mountains stretch. Further, the Sarysu River, originating in the Arch and Telikul, is a witness to many historical events. Regions Of Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan is divided into 17 regions ( kk, облыстар/''oblystar''; singular: облыс/''oblys''; russian: области/''oblasti''; singular: область/''oblast). Kyzylorda Region
Kyzylorda Region ( kk, Қызылорда облысы, translit=Qyzylorda oblysy; russian: Кызылординская область, translit=Kyzylordinskaya oblast) is a region of Kazakhstan. Its capital is the city of Kyzylorda, with a population of 234 736. The region itself has a population of 799 533. Shieli
Shieli ( kk, Шиелі) is a village in Kyzylorda Region, southern-central Kazakhstan. It is the administrative centre of Shieli District and the head and the only settlement of Shieli rural district (KATO code - 435230100). Sighnaq
Sighnaq ( kk, Сығанақ, Syğanaq; uz, Sigʻnoq) was an ancient city in Central Asia (in modern Kazakhstan, Kyzylorda Region), it was the capital of the Blue Horde (i.e., the White Horde of Persian sources), although the city is almost unknown. The region in which Sighnaq was situated was called Farab, it was located between Isfijab and Jand. The name means 'place of refuge', a name that is found also in other regions, especially in Transcaucasia. According to Hathon, Sighnaq was located in the Karatau Mountains, from where the river Kara Ichuk, a tributary of Syr Darya, emanates. Karatau Mountains
The Karatau or Qaratau ( kk, Қаратау жотасы, Qarataw jotasy) is a mountain range located in southern Kazakhstan. The name Karatau means ''Black Mountain'' in the Kazakh language. The mountains have deposits of phosphorite, lead and zinc. Geography The range extends for about in a roughly NW/SE direction just north of the Syrdaria River. The Muyunkum Desert lies to the north of the range. The Karatau is the westernmost prolongation of the Tian Shan. The summits of the mountains are smooth and the slopes are cut by snow-fed rivers. The Shabakty, Ushbas, Bugun and Asa, are among the rivers having their sources in the range.
