Charles Sherrard
Charles William Sherrard, RE (25 December 1848 – 1938) was a British Army officer and rugby union international who represented England from 1871 to 1872. Additionally, along with Lieutenant Charles Arthur Crompton RE, he was the first member of the armed forces to represent their national side. Early life Charles Sherrard was born on 25 December 1848 in London, the son of James Corry Sherrard, Esq. of Reigate. He attended Rugby School, and was a member of Hutchinson House, leaving in 1865. Rugby union career Sherrard played for Blackheath F.C., an open membership club originally set up for the old boys of Blackheath Proprietary School, which by the time Sherrard was playing was dominated by old boys from Rugby School, amongst whom was counted Sherrard himself. Kathleen Margaret Maria Sherrard (15 February 1898 – 21 August 1975) was an Australian geologist and paleontologist. Early life and education The daughter of John McInerny, a medical practitioner, and Margaratta Wright (née Brayshay), she was born Kathleen McInerny in North Carlton, Melbourne, and later lived in Beijing. She studied geology and chemistry at university, receiving a BSc (in 1918) and MSc (in 1921) from the University of Melbourne and winning the Kernot and Caroline Kay research scholarships. Career McInerny became a demonstrator and then assistant geography lecturer at the University of Melbourne in 1919, supporting her family after her father's death. She was honorary secretary of the Victorian Women Graduates' Association from 1920 to 1928. Michael Watson Sherrard (born June 21, 1963) is a former professional American football wide receiver in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers, New York Giants, and Denver Broncos. He played college football at UCLA. Early years Sherrard attended Chico High School in Chico, California, where he was a multi-sport athlete, lettering in football, basketball, baseball and track. He moved on to UCLA as an unrecruited walk-on athlete and was redshirted after breaking his finger in fall practice. The next year, he suffered from mononucleosis when he reported for spring practice and registered only 2 receptions during the season, while backing up wide receivers Dokie Williams and Jo-Jo Townsell. Patrick Sherrard (7 January 1919 – 11 January 1997) was an English cricketer. Sherrard was a right-handed batsman. He was born at Mickleover, Derbyshire and educated at Stowe School. Sherrard made a single first-class appearance for Cambridge University against Northamptonshire at Fenner's in 1938. In this match, he scored 5 runs in the university's first-innings, before being dismissed by Eric Herbert, while in their second-innings he was dismissed by Reginald Partridge for 2 runs. The match ended in a draw. In that same season he also made a single first-class appearance for Leicestershire against Oxford University at the University Parks. In Leicestershire's first-innings, he scored 53 runs before being dismissed by Peter Whitehouse. This was his only innings of the match, which ended in a draw.
