Sherif El Bendary
Sherif El Bendary ( ar, شريف البنداري; born 29 September 1978) is an Egyptian film director, writer and producer. His debut feature film was '' Ali, the Goat and Ibrahim''. Life and career Sherif graduated from the Faculty of Applied Arts in 2001 then worked in textile factories. Later, he joined the Egyptian Film Institute in 2002 and graduated in 2007, where he currently teaches film directing. His directorial debut was the 2006 short film '' Rise and Shine'' starring Hend Sabry and produced by the National Film Center, the film won numerous awards locally and internationally including Tribeca Film Festival. In 2008, El Bendary wrote and directed '' At Day's End'' based on a short story by the acclaimed Egyptian novelist Ibrahim Aslan. 2011 Cannes Film Festival
The 64th Cannes Film Festival was held from 11 to 22 May 2011. American actor Robert De Niro served as the president of the jury for the main competition and French filmmaker Michel Gondry headed the jury for the short film competition. South Korean film director Bong Joon-ho was the head of the jury for the Caméra d'Or prize, which is awarded to the best first-time filmmaker. The American film ''The Tree of Life (film), The Tree of Life'', directed by Terrence Malick won the Palme d'Or. Wahid Hamed
Wahid Hamed ( ar, وحيد حامد; 1 July 1944 – 2 January 2021) was an Egyptian screenwriter. Personal life Hamed was born in Beni Quraysh, Sharqia Governorate. He moved to Cairo in 1963 to study in the Department of Sociology at Cairo University. He was married to Zeinab Sweidan, with whom he had his son, Marwan. Work as a screenwriter According to ''Egypt Independent''; "Hamed was concerned with Egyptian society and important issues within the country, and was able to eloquently narrate Egypt’s conditions, dreams, and history." He worked with a number of directors, including Samir Seif, Sherif Arafa and Atef El-Tayeb. He won several awards for his work. In 2020, he won the Golden Pyramid Appreciation Award from the 42nd Cairo International Film Festival for Lifetime Achievement.
