Sheraton Hotel Samsun
The Sheraton Hotel Samsun is a hotel in Samsun, Turkey. The hotel is Samsun's second tallest building with 28 floors and a height of 115 meters. The building was completed in 2015 and is located along the seafront of the city to the north of its port on Atatürk Boulevard. The hotel belongs to the Sheraton Hotels and Resorts chain. Design and history The hotel was designed by Turkish architect Turgut Toydemir. Construction of the hotel began in 2013 and was completed in late 2015 in anticipation of the 2017 Summer Deaflympics which was held in Samsun, Turkey. The hotel was constructed by RIC Construction on behalf of Tanrıverdi Holdings. The building cost $60 million to complete. Construction on the hotel was halted in 2013 by court order, whereupon the height of the building was ordered reduced from 160 meters to 115 meters. Turgut Toydemir (born 1938 in Istanbul) is a Turkish architect. Biography Turgut Toydemir was born in 1938 in Istanbul. He spent his childhood in the Sultanselim neighbourhood of the Fatih district. He went to highschool in the Çarşamba neighbourhood. In that periode he would get the hang of architecture by hanging around the neighborhood with his childhood friend Ersen Gürsel - who would also become an architect. Gökdelen Towers is a two-tower luxury residential complex located in Samsun, Turkey. Construction of the two buildings began in 2012 and was completed in 2018. The development consists of two high-rise residential towers. Tower One stands and 30 floors. Tower Two stands and 27 floors. The complex has 212 residential units and is 625,000 square feet. Samsun Tram
The Samsun Light Rail Transit System (Samsun Tramway) is a light rail transit system located in Samsun and Atakum, Turkey. The 36.5 km Samsun Tramway connects Ondokuz Mayıs University to Samsun Stadium. The system was constructed in three phases between 2010 and 2019. The tram line is the only urban rail system in the Black Sea Region pending the construction of the Trabzon Tram.
